Left a message on our answer machine at 8:30 a.m. this morning, "Investigator Jones" asked for me by name, said it was in regard to [a relative's name], gave a "case #" and said to call (706) 221-5683.
Of course he gave no identification of his supposed company or entity, which tells us its a big scam.
Calling from a Georgia area code is another big red flag.

Called my # for my husband or son (they have same name) said he was looking for someone we don't know haven't paid they car payment. Called him back and he said they pull the info from a site and it's not always correct. This was very weird and said he was calling from a credit union. Very weird and I blocked the number

Left message about a person I have no clue as to who it is.

This number called me about the same situations that others are having on here, they also didn't get my full name correct. I was told to call back but I figured something was sketchy with their presentation and the generic name of Jones.

Same left a massage asked for me by name and gave case number and a name I didn’t know ….. I called back and told him I have him number to police hung up and blocked number

Same message everyone else got—Investigator Jones with regard to my deceased sister-in-law. Called at 8:30 am and left the case # but no other company information. My cellphone number is relatively new, so I can't figure out how he got this number and he even pronounced my last name correctly, which no one ever does. I rarely give out my cellphone number. I have a house phone also, so I normally give out that number.

“Investigator” Jones. 🤣 oh no it’s the cops. Used my name asked about a family member. Nope. At best a bill collector, at worst a scam.

Same thing got a text from this number from an investigator jones and they were looking for my fiancé asked for us both by name. Company hire that company to find the person default on a loan. No I’m my case I have two phones and one is a very private line so I definitely asked how they got this number. They are somehow able to pull records from inquiries or submitted background checks and looking at everyone who could possibly live in your home (if you are registered to vote your address is public they can see first and last name plus address) and contact them by number and/or email (seen people pull this info from been verified often used on the catfish tv show). So if you don’t know they person they may have lived in your home before you or is looking to speak to a person with a similar name.

A man so called "investigator" Jones calling and harassing everyone in the extended family in order to get the whereabouts of someone that owes the credit union money. He's not an "investigator", he he is an investigator order to sound intimidating. He's a simple bill collector. These calls should be illegal. They loaned the money to one family member and shouldn't be calling the entire extended family in order to get to him. They loaned the money to him, not us, so stop bugging the heck out of the rest of us!

What makes you think they aren't necessarily illegal?

Got a call to me and my family today. He mentioned same as above with a random case number without name of the company and description of the case. I would think it is a scamer..
