Got another call from a woman today, she left a voicemail.  Said it's their 2nd attempt to contact me and if I didn't call back my file would be forwarded for further action.  She ended the voicemail with, "If you don't call us back I wish you good luck" in a very threatening tone.  

I called back and talked to Rita (I think?) and the call wasn't even for me.  She was pretty nice actually!  

However...

I was a collector for several years and I would suggest that if you are getting threatening messages or talking to them and being threatened that you file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office.  They are violating all kinds of federal laws as far as debt collections go.  I suggest EVERYONE keep their voicemails, write detailed notes after you speak with anyone from that office (try to get the name of their company, collector's name, etc.) and fill out a complaint form online at https://www.oag.state.tx.us/forms/cpd/form.php - -

If enough people complain, they will be investigated.  At the very least they will have to restructure the way they make calls.  At the most, you may be able to sue THEM for violations!

Just got a call from this number about an hour ago. Was not home so they left a message on my machine saying - this is the second time we have been trying to get a hold of you. If you don't do anything about it and not call back to do this, we will get you to court ASAP! You better do something about this NOW! Listen and call back NOW!

I was like whoa, nice message so I called back to see what the deal is - This gentleman named "Timothy" with STRONG india accent saying YOU MUST give me the case number! I said there was no case number on the message. He said, YOU ARE A LIAR! Stop playing games with me and report to GOD now!

HUH! What is he talking about? This number better be taken care of by the FBI or something to stop threating and scare people for no reasons.

Just received a call from this number. I was supposedly speaking with a paralegal from the law offices of CMCE & Associates.  She claims there is a claim against me from 2008.  None of the information she provided was accurate.  She then went on to argue with me when I informed her the info was incorrect and that if she wanted any info from me she would need to put it in writing.  I was told she didn't have to do that and I could explain myself to the judge.  I was hung up on.  This is a scam because no one is going to call and warn you about being served and refuse to provide you with info if they are trying to collect on a debt.

File complaint with AG and also let the AG office know they are posing as "litigators" so that is false impersonation of a legal process server. Don't even call them back, it isn't worth the time but you can block their number, force them to leave these messages and then forward the recordings to the AG office also.

And if you call back, their # is 8324134527 so they are spoofing people as well.

Im getting called frome.   This mumber 713-568-4554 and there. Saying i owe them money an im tired of it

I received the call on my voice mail basically stating I would get a visit from their paralegals.  I called them back and some guy named Gregg answered.  I told him with a lot of tone in my voice that I had just received their call and that they could come by to see me anytime because I would be waiting.  I then hung up.

Got a call at my work and my cell from the same number.  An Angela Carmichael (automated) said that there has been a civil case filed and to call back one of their paralegals.  First off, if this was legit, they would not be leaving messages like that... it's illegal! Second, they would actually have me served with whatever it is I did.  Who do you complain to and does it even do anything to stop this pricks??

received a call from 713-568-4554 that I need to call them regarding a law suit!  I knew it was a scam but since it was a local number I called anyway!  When the person answered the phone she asked me for the last 4 digits of my SS# and i told her that s he should have it since they are suing me!  She said hold on let me get a hard copy of my documents from the attorney's office!!! Then she comes back and says that I need to speak to the legal assistant Monican Harper regarding my dept!  Since I knew it was a scam I just hung up!!! Less than a second Monica Harper called me back from 713-893-8906! I declined the call but when I blocked the number and called back she just said hello!  I will report these numbers to FTC and these are not the only numbers hat they call from!!!!! SCAM!!!!

I have received several calls that show up under my caller ID as coming from TX. The number identified is 713-568-4554 yet they tell you to call 713-893-4340 to respond.

Today they left a message. Couldn't catch a few of the words, but this is how it went....

"This is a very important message that serves as an initial notice of legal proceedings in response to a _______ at your local bank. Our firm would like to speak to you in regards to this matter. Contact us immediately at 713-893-4340. If you choose not to respond to this message, it will be deemed ________ and proceedings will commence."

Mighty suspicious. They didn't identify the "firm" name. They didn't identify who they were trying to contact. They didn't identify the name of the "local" bank....

I'm in agreement that this is probably a scam. I have no intention of responding.

received a call 8/20/13 @ 1207pm est from a jennifer lawrence from CMCE & Associates stating that i took out a loan for $350.00 in 8/07 and was given the money in a bank of america account that is now closed and i did not pay the amount due to a company called payday loan yes. she verified that i was in fact the right person by giving me my email address attached to the loan, employer info from time of loan and last 4 of my social. all of it was correct. however i do not recall ever getting a loan online. she asked if i had every received paperwork in the mail regarding this legal matter. i answered no. she stated that i was going to have to travel from NY to NM to go to court in which a judgement was going to be heard and placed against me for check fraud and that i would have to pay an amount of $1400, jail time for fraud and this would be placed on my banking record. i was provided an option to resolve this voluntarily for the amount of this loan. i asked for proof regarding this. she gave me a website of www.cashloansource.com was told to put in the email address she verified and my ss# and it would bring up original application. funny not only did it not come up but i called cash loan source and they do not do business w payday loan yes. i am still waiting for this email from jennifer to come in w all the necessary information regarding my "charges" my attorney called, spoke w someone and jennifer was not available. this will end badly for these people
