This is a collection agency named Frost-Arnett Co and based out of Nashville, TN appearing to be sneaky and changing their caller id hoping to catch a unsuspected person.  Their web site indicates they are a medical/hospital collection agency.  On my caller id no name shows up, just unavailable and doesn't show up on my system. Their robo caller has also called from 713-574-7973 & 713-574-7974 and who knows how may other numbers.

These people are very rude and very unprofessional. My father just passed and Nicole Vaughn the lady that called was very nasty. Not to mention the bill they were calling about had been paid MONTHS ago. Update your records and get better employees.

They called me, too, but not recently. (I'm cleaning out my phone and choosing which numbers to keep.)  Anyway, they never called back and it's been 5 months since they called.  They are a collection agency.  All collections calls will be met by rude people.  It's how they do it!  You can block them all you want but the best way is to find put why they're calling you!  I answered and learned they were hoping to reach some lady who used a random number as her contact, which happened to be mine, so I told them I didn't know her and the number never belonged to her, because that was correct.  They ask your birthday because it helps to verify if they have the right person, but isn't proof.  Don't ever give your social security number, but "Google" what to do/how to handle the callers if you truly (might) have a debt (all debts get handed over to a collection agency, what would YOU do if somebody owes YOU money?)  Also, make sure that if you did pay, that you have it documented on paper. Once a physician/hospital hands it to a collection agency, they can no longer accept your money, so you will have to pay the agency to pay your debt, so make sure to get all information of your debt, their account number for you, etc., Have them mail a copy of their bill with itemized details. You should never pay anything blindly. Oh, and once you do acknowledge a debt and make a payment, it cements it in as you and starts again new until its paid. So if you skip out on it, it has a fresh new date and they'll only hound you moreso. Yes, they are ruthless, and that's because they bought your debt from the seller and are now going to haunt your butt until you pay up. Research, know what you're doing.

Yes, but first you should research the law you think you know.  Some of that is correct but it was posted in such a confusing fashion as to be virtually worthless.

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

They were sued by the Dept. of Labor, lost, appealed, and lost again:  https://www.courtlistener.com/opinion/247435/ ... etary-of-labor/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
