Bison "Recovery" Group Newer collection agency - opened in 2015 so you know this is a company who frequency changes their names due to the number of complaints and bad practices.  Suggest you add to your block listing.

Looks like they are in New York which is certainly not a surprise.  The better course of action would be:

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid. 

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Been getting lots of collection calls from NY, I have no outstanding debt.  Called an attorney today to deal with this.

They said trying to collect a debt

Left voice mail for my son who lives out of state. Identifies himself as Mr. Peters with Bison Group concerning a file number & my son must contact them by end of business day. Phone number listed from NY. Call back number give en is 855-977 2118 ext. 206. No information on voice mail saying what this is about. I have blocked this number but they still leave a voice mail. Scam call. Will be filing complaints

Did you know it is  illegal to discuss business with a third party(you)??  Since this call comes from the Buffalo, NY area, REPORT at www.consumerfinance.gov and the NY state attorney general.  Then block them.

I received a call from Brandon from Bison Group asking me to give a message to my estranged brother to call them. They had his phone # and address but had no luck getting in touch with him. My brother is a deadbeat and I told him good luck if they are trying to collect money.

This guy calls me and tells I know someone I never heard of. Than got nasty verbally and hung up.

They are calling my job, Federal Government.

Keeps calling my number asking for someone else, blocked them now they leave messages so annoying

Guy called Timothy Peters asking for someone and wasn’t even sure he had the correct number and said he is trying to locate a person. A company trying to get money for dead beat estranged family members.

They call nonstop even though I’m on the don not call list
