Received a call from this number 716-748-7166 from someone by the name of Justin Miller from Eastpoint Recovery Group. This is the 4th call from a similiar agency trying to recovery a bogus debt. They are bullying and call back constantly. After looking up all of the other numbers and this one I have found that it is a scam. They just get very rude when I tell them that. I contacted the company who they say I have a past debt with and they have no idea who this company is with. This has been going on for months.

Got a call from someone at this number looking for my mother, giving her first and last name. Not sure how he associated my cell phone number with my mothers name. He wanted to contact her regarding a legal matter and wanted a phone number for her. Told the ***hole that I had no contact with her and no number to give him. Jerk was really rude. These companies are the bottom of the barrel. She's 80 years old and has nothing! What could they possibly think they could get from her. Unbelievable.

SOB called my husband's number looking for my daughter, regarding a "serious claim against her".  Identified himself as Justin Calman (or Kelman or something close) from Eastepoint Group.  He knew my husband's first name, and said he was given that number for her name.  Wants us to call him with her contact number.  Not in ANY lifetime!  I just left him a very unmistakeable message with MY number.  Let's see if he has the kahunas to call me back.

Well I thought this was a scam but I was wrong. Got served a month back and ended up having a judgment placed against me. This has cost me a lot more in the end, I wish I would have just dealt with this when I had the chance before it got this far. I just wanted people to know that they are legitimate and you are probably better off addressing it with them before it goes any further.

If they are legitimate, they are not allowed to call other people and disclose that you have a debt.  If they are legitimate, they are also required to send you a verification of debt showing the amount owed, who the original creditor is among other things.  (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).  If you ARE served with papers via your local sheriff's dept, you must show up at the hearing, even if you can't afford a lawyer, otherwise a judgment will be granted against you to said legitimate company.  Any time someone calls about a supposed debt you owe - THEY must document via snail mail - NOT email - what you owe.  I could go on, but I know that Resident47 and others have posted what you should do in these cases many times.  If the debt is legitimate, then yes, address it while you can.  But always demand proof.  There are many companies out there who can and do skirt the legally required steps, but they can be fined heavily for doing so.

You can afford an attorney. Under the FDCPA not only are u rewarded 1000 dollars for violations but the defendant is also responsible for ur attorneys fees. These [***] tried to sue me for debt that was past statue of limitations I paid to the orriganal creditor that somehow they purchased. Well me and my attorney showed up at the court for the hearing and they didn't even show up. So I won a default judgement against them. See they sue expecting u to be non knowing of the law so they can get a default judgement against u.

It's a legitimate company. I had a debt that was owed(approx $2400), but we worked out a deal so that I would only pay $1800 over 6 months. I received notification via mail of it being paid off in full and would be indicated as such on my credit report. So instead of it just looking like an unpaid loss to the credit card company it now shows I made the effort and paid off the debt in full which raised my credit score.

Nice try, but the fact remains that NO one should pay ANY debt collector a dime until a legitimate notice of validation has been received by mail. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA.
If this, or any other, collection outfit calls & it is your first contact with them they have 5 business days to provide you with that notice of validation. If they refuse, or fail to provide that notice (by MAIL ONLY) they are at best zombie/junk debt collectors attempting to collect on a debt they know to be time-barred or invalid. At worst, they're just low-life, pitiful frauds!
Believe NOTHING you're told on the phone. EVER! If written proof of a collectors claim is not in front of, having been MAILED to you, ignore the collector. If a notice of validation is mailed to you, VERIFY everything on it before you pay one red cent. If you contest a collectors claim, return a letter to them (by certified/return receipt mail) to the return address on the notice you received within 30 days, DEMANDING a full, complete letter of validation.
Know your rights as a consumer under the FDCPA. It's easy, just Google it.
    Be Safe. Be Aware.

Calls started two days ago on my cell phone and my employer. I called her (Lori) back this morning and the debt is mine however when I asked for a validation letter she got extremely upset and nasty with me. She offered to email it but when I insisted on the letter she got even more nasty. She said they have sent me letters, but I have not received them.  I told her that I didn't call to argue with her but if she was not going to send the letter then she could do what she needed to do and I will retain an attorney. She told me good luck, that the attorney will laugh at me. I wished her a good day and hung up.
