They asked for person who probably had # before me; I've had  # for 8-9 years.  Asked them to remove # for the person they're looking for.  Agreed to.  We'll see!!  Anyone know the name of collection agency connected to the 716#.

Just received a similar message from this number.  Caller said his name was Chris Huston and wanted to talk to my son.  Message was hard to understand.  Something about County Court and bank.  Only clear part was name and number.  Tried to call back a couple of times but got a busy signal.  Then found this thread on-line.  Not calling back.

Well, the guy Chris Huston (or Houston) called me and left a detailed matter stating it is a bank issue, not a solicitation.  He said he was not sure if I am aware of what is going on but that a deposit was made to my account and I did not resolve the issue and I ignored 2 certified letters so I am not to ignore the courts on this.
Well, little does he know that my bank account has been closed for some time so I am not sure how he got a deposit in there.  I was going to call them back but starting looking up the phone number and then I found this site so I am glad I did not.  BIG TIME SCAM ARTIST, TRYING TO SOUND ALL LEGIT.  DON'T FALL FOR IT.

A guy named Chris Houston called and left a message stating that he called from P & F Associates (a law firm in Williams county ) trying to collect a debt and avoid a credit report filing. I looked up P& F  Associates (it doesn't exist). Also they called me in regards to a family member requesting the family member's home phone number. Don't call me about someone else. You mean to tell me that an attorney's office cannot get a phone number to the family member but yet they can call me? DEFINATELY A SCAM.

Did you know it is illegal to claim to be an attorney if they are not licensed?  Give your state attorney general a call as well as checking  www.consumerfinance.gov .

Thank you for the information. I called Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on April 27, 2018. This agency takes complaints only (which I was not aware of before I called). I did not have an address or enough other information to make a complaint. But I was informed to call The Attorney General in my state.

This is an update to my March 8, 2018 entry. I took MJG's advice to call Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on April 27, 2018 but I did not have enough information to file a complaint. This agency had me call my states Attorney General. When I called the Attorney General's Office , I asked if P&F Associates was registered in my state to do business and if they were licensed to collect debts in my state. I was informed that I should call my states Secretary of State and ask those same questions. When I called the Secretary of State I asked those same questions. I was informed that P&F Associates had last registered with Ohio in 1991 by an Attorney Swartz LPA in 1991. P&F  had failed to renew because they attempted to register under a fictitious name. The address given in 1991 was 7819 Montreal Court, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241. Also there is no record under P&F for a Chris Houston. Also the company was not listed as a collection agency. Then just to double check I called Better Business Bureau (BBB) in my city and was informed that they had no record of P&F Associates. I hope this helps. Whatever you do; do not send this guy money. Just tell him he has the wrong number or tell him that you will call the Attorney General's office in your state. He doesn't call me anymore.

The CFPB used to do more but the current administration does not want them helping Americans, they want they to stay out of it and allow criminals to do whatever they want.  This is why we are seeing some really off the wall posts lately about some of the stuff these crooks are pulling.

Some of the earlier posts mention an Eastpoint Group.  There is an Eastpoint Recovery Group in Buffalo, NY, which is the right area for these people and the tactics they are using.
