Jessica Swartz left a message on my phone saying I have a pending case in her office and that either I or my attorney needs to return a call to her. I have been receiving many calls, daily, from different phone numbers and different states with basically the same message, but, this is the first time I have been given the name of the person to call. It is a scam. I will not return this call.

They've been calling me too, but it has to be a scam cuz they don't even say the name of the person they're trying to get ahold of. how do they know they're leaving a voicemail for the intended person... as* wipes!

I have received numerous calls from this number and I called back. The 1st time I called back and asked for the name of the company, the lady became very rude. They then called my landline a few minutes later. I called back and asked for the name of the company and address so that I can contact my State Attorney Generals office to find of if this company is licensed in the state of NE and they hung up. I am a victim of Identity theft and have had several companies call me and I have pd some of the smaller ones as it is cheaper that faxing them 200 pages of police reports. But lately these companies are not legal in my state, so I am not responsible.

"Jessica Swartz" called me again, a few minutes ago. She says I have a case pending and that she needs me or my lawyer to call her. The message is always half cut off so I don't know what happens to the full message but it is becoming to be very annoying to get these calls. Today, my Caller ID said it was a call from Carson City, CO. I also looked up her name in the city mentioned and there is no attorney with her name listed anywhere. This is such a scam. I hope my posts help someone know not to give this person any money.

I got the same call, I have 3 charges pending against me and there is a warrant for my arrest.  When I asked who filed the charges against the very nice woman I was talking to took a turn for the nasty and hung up on me.  It's a scam, plain and simple.  In a lie a long time ago, I've had real debt collectors call me before and while they can be real [***] they want their money and they answer all the questions that I ask.

Don'the get freaked out. Just Google "debt collection scams " and you'll get all the information you need regarding how they operate,  what you should and should not do. NO legitimate debt collection agency can issue threats such as arrests, it's against the law. BTW, I got the same voice mail this morning.

Jessica Swatrz called and left another message for me yesterday and today. So, I called the number backand decided to have some fun. I was told that Jessica had stepped out but she asked my phone number and tthen came back to tell me there was a fraud case against me. I told her I didn't believe her and that she was a fraud. She got huffy with me and said fine that she would put the case through at the courthouse. She calls me from a number in Colorado and I live in Michigan. I have nothing in the mail about this very important case. Then she hung up. I proceeded to call her back. The first two times I called back, they had an answering machine pick up. When I was asked to leave a message, I told them they picked the wrong person to perpetrate a fraud upon and then started screaming into the phone as loud and as long as I could. I left two such messages. Then I kept calling back over and over again. I told them they picked a crazy lady to pick on and that I would be there worst nightmare. They would have different people answer and say "Litigation Department" or something like that. I just said that they found a crazy lady to bother and that I had all the time in the world to bug them. Sometimes when they called I would just scream. Other times I told them how crazy I was. I really had them angry but it felt good. These people have not heard the end of it from me. Everytime they leave a message I will do a repeat performance. I am sick of it. I already changed my cell phone number. I am not going down without a good fight. These people are the scum of the earth and they need to get a taste of their own medicine. Now, if this were a real debt collector, that is one thing, but, I do not owe these people anything. I only owe on a mortgage that is always fully paid.

Hopefully these people will not call me back anymore. I have a new plan for any company that tries to scam me. I just calmly tell them sorry, I do not believe you and I know this is a scam. If they get mad and say they will send my case to court, I tell them fine. I say I can't wait! If they call me back again, then I will start calling them back numerous times and yell and scream and bug the crap out of them with repeated calls. I am not putting up with this anymore. If they insist on bothering me, I will also start bothering them. These people are trying to scare you into giving them money. Once they realize you are not going to pay them, they will stop calling. They won't waste their time calling you after it becomes clear you have no intention of paying them. They need to start calling other people. I hope this helps someone out there. Please do not fall for this scam. Many blessings to all!

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
