- telemarketerhater| 8 repliesIt is the energy conservation alliance. A group out of Broomfield Colorado. Claim to be a non-profit agency helping homeowners find rebates for making energy conscious renovations to their homes.
Lady that called me was rude, ignorant, and eating something. Between the smacking of her lips and the disdain in her voice, its a wonder she has any sort of job at all. Just because they claim to be non-profit doesn't mean they should be immune to the do-not-call register. Their website (http://energycalliance.org/) appears to be newly created and none of the links work. Seems a little dodgy to me and just another means of using a front to load a database of names to sell to other telemarketers who will start ringing your number.
On top of that, using a reputable cause (energy conservation) to annoy consumers and circumvent do-not-call regulations is despicable.- Caller: Energy Conservation Alliance

- mary censjust got one - I answered on the first ring but got disconnected. I called back and message said Ext 3298 was on other line and to press one to lv message. I did not and looked phone up -- NOT listed in Dex but on some other reverse phone site that said it was located in Denver CO--then I saw this. Thanks, I will now block the number!
- puffyfaceheadnoseears| 1 replyOK this call links, as mentioned above to Energy Conservation Alliance. googling that phone number yields a craigslist ad in the denver area that lists the name Energy Research Group which is 9 miles down the road from the address listed for Energy Conservation Alliance. Now Energy Conservation Alliance still has an active page googled off of their main page that lists contacts;

Goggling that phone number gets you to a couple of google reviews of the company. One of them by user "rabbitsnipe" is actually three reviews a few days apart all saying great things about Energy Research Group. Rabbitsnipe googles to an account at Hostmonster.com http://www.hostmonsterforum.com/member.php?u=11071 which is the same hosting service hosting Energy Conservation Alliance.
I love tangled scams. I also live in colorado and will drive up to both of those addresses over the weekend just to say hi.- Caller: Energy Conservation Alliance/Energy Research Group
- SusieI was contacted by this group but they called themselves the "Energy Savings Alliance". The kid, Michael Bailey tried hard to get information from me and when I asked for information to be mailed he stated he didnt have anything but that someone would call me. I then asked for an email address because he stated he would send "them an email". He would not disclose an email but finally told me to go to "EnergyResearch Group.org" I plan to report this to the AARP Fraud Watch and the Colorado Attorney Generals office.

- jijafra| 1 replyI nicely gave them my information thinking this was a real attempt at trying to reduce energy and doing studies where I was told I would not be asked to buy anything but purely checking to see if I qualify for an energy use tracking study in which I would be compensated. In EXACTLY 15 minutes, I received a phone call from a company trying to sell me windows and siding pretending to have nothing to do with the other group except that I must not have qualified for the "program" and that I authorized their call by giving my information. Total lie and scam. I specifically told the guy at "Energy Conservation Group" that I was NOT interested in receiving sales calls and if this was what it was I did not want my info entered. I have every intention of turning them into the Attorney Generals office and then following up until they do something about this company who is trying to circumvent the the "Do not call" list. I can't wait to see them get a fine for EVERY call they made that is on the list. It is my new mission in life - I recently found myself with a lot of time on my hands!!!

- emsimsThanks for the info. I got this call today - it seemed kind of shady, but I couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about it. The promise of "We'll pay YOU to track your energy savings" put my hackles up. When they call back, I'll tell them to take a hike.

- swim fastI recieved a call from the group Energy Conservation Alliance. The phone number has changed to 303.353.1865.
The website is a scam and the links are broken. They are not registered with the better business bureau and not a registered nonprofit corporation.- Caller: Energy Conservation Alliance

- Pleasant guy and galI was contacted by the Energy Conservation Alliance and they were helpful and professional. In fact, they made me aware of the new tiered billing method that Excel Energy is now using to calculate our energy bills during the summer months. Apparently we are alowed 500 kilowatt hours per month and if we happen to use any hours over that amount then we are charged at a higher (2nd tiered) billing rate. I was not aware of this until they called us.
They also made me aware that I can go on line to Xcelenergy.com and look up how my electric bill is calculated. Because of this I realized that I was almost over the 500 hours and was able to conserve and not be blind sided with another outragious bill!
. Because of this call, I went on line and checked out their website where they also have helpful links like Energy Star etc. Just saying, I'm not sure that all of this is bad. They didn't pressure me at all.- Caller: Energy Conservation Alliance

- James| 6 repliesSo I get a call from a company i hired recently and have issues with. This solicitation was to perform services and the whole energy saving speech as I am trying to inturrupt them to tell them to go to hell.
I know of this fraudster group personally. Energy Research Group (ERG) AKA energy conservation alliance did work for me and failed to complete their work and has placed a lien against my home after I paid them the full amount of money owed. They assessed $12,483 against my home (project only cost $6,000 and have a voice record of them stating that) because, "I turned them into the Better Business Bureau". I did in fact turn them for failing to complete projects and not giving me a statement of work. My attorney is working on suing or countersuing their apparent threat to take me to district court. I have voice recordings of them stating that the additional charge was for my complaint to the BBB and that I shouldn’t have filed a complaint. They said the $8,000 will fall under additional materials and the $4,000 for additional labor and I also have voice recording of them originally stating that my bill was paid in full and they even cashed my final check (registered mail) that had a cover letter explaining that the if the check is cashed it constitutes final payment of which they cashed. I even wrote the same description on the check itself and currently possess bank copies ready-in-hand for my lawsuit.
They only insulated ¾ of my attic. They were suppose to weather strip the whole house and never touched the back door or garage door. They pressure tested the home but failed to give me the report. They left nails all around the house from a roof project of which failed inspections 4 times. Destroyed my furnace from the attic blow-in insulation job because they had the furnace cold air intake uncovered during the blow-in while the furnace was running sucking in 100% insulation that covered the whole area inside of my home (no filter) and breaking the furnace. (but they did pay to have someone fix the furnace but did not clean up the mess). They were supposed to audit my utility bill to compare savings and to help with their “energy study” of which they never have done. They said from the beginning that they will pay the difference if there was no energy savings to some matched percentage. They also offered $2,000 in rebates of which I never received. They broke out a window I had to claim on my insurance and ate my daughters coffee cake she was supposed to take to school with her for a cake contest.
They backed a truck into my shed and damaged the siding and structure of which they denied doing even though they left tire prints leading to the shed and I photographed and compared the tracts to a photo of their tires.
BUYER BEWARE! Do not hire this middle man company to work on your home. They do not practice or provide contracts or (SOWs) prior to start of the projects. They outsource all of the work to different companies that win the lowest bids on large contracts so you might have meth heads inside your home smoking meth out of a meth pipe while weather stripping your doors stealing scientific calculators and video games from your son’s bedroom. They hold the power of placing fraudulent liens on homes and unfortunately Mechanic Liens are not governed very well and are easily placed upon homes that do not give the homeowners the opportunity to defend themselves until the company decides to file the suit. I was and currently unable to sell my home due to the lien and was explained by my attorney that I can sue for that particular damage additional to the other damages caused by the company.- Caller: 3033398304

- Uncle Nitro| 2 repliesThere is alot more information and alot more depth to this scam than what you all are aware of. All of these companies are connected. Google the following names. Larry Applehans, Gene Applehans, Greg Gallert, Energy Program Inc., TA Empire Inc., Thermal Advantage Inc., Energy Research Group Inc., Energy Conservation Alliance Inc., Energy Conservation Group LLC. Find out what they all have in common. Don't forget to look at the names with the BBB and the DBAs. I am in court proceedings for windows that I purchased in 2007 and I am finding out alot of information about how these companies take advantage of consumers then close their doors. Be very, very cautious about any of these names, companies or any other products or services that is related to them. Do your homework. You will be shocked as to what you find out.
- Uncle Nitro replies to jijafraI have just mailed a letter to John W. Suthers, Attorney General 11/26/10. It might be very interesting to find out what happens. These guys need to be stopped before more consumers are victimized. I cannot believe that there is not a law against what they are doing or maybe they just have not been caught yet. If I don't win this court case, you will be hearing alot from me. You said that you have alot of time on your hands. Maybe I could use your help if needed.
- Uncle Nitro replies to James| 4 repliesI have alot of information that would be valuable to your court case. Like I said in other postings, this scam is alot deeper than people realize. Energy Research Group is owned by Gene Applehans. He also owned TA Empire and Thermal Advantage. Thermal Advantage was sued by John W. Suthers, Attorney General, in December, 2007. Larry Applehans and Greg Gallert are also involved with this company. There is alot more information than what I can provide to you on this posting. If you cannot find the information that you look for, let me know, I will give it to you. These guys are a classic example of white collar crooks.
- mighty mo| 1 replyI just recently move to Colorado from central Missouri and bought my house shortly after that. I did need new windows and called this company. They showed me how I can save money on my energy bill as well as get rebates from excel and federal tax credits. They also put me on a rebate program where if I send them my public service bill for 12 months they will send me a check for $25.00. Now I know that is not much but if you take the total tax credits and public service rebates I will receive over $2000.00 in total rebates and credits. I know there are scams out there in any industry but I can honestly say that I have received everything that was offered. By the way I did receive bids from other window and siding companies to which I will also say was treated the same if not worse. I choose Energy Research Group because of their help. And I do not regret that.
- Sally Sue| 4 repliesI received a call from this company and my first thought was "ugh another sales call!" and tried to get them off the phone as quickly as possible. I started to listen to their pitch and realized I am a consumer that could use a $1500 tax credit and new windows as mine are very drafty and horrible! So I decied to let this Energy Research Group give me a call as Energy Conservation Alliance suggested and what they had to say was too good to be true! Reluctantly, I scheduled an appointment for a demo and I was absolutely amazed! The salesmen was very nice and knew what he was talking about! I purchased their windows and the process has been seemless! I truly thank Energy Conservation Alliance for calling me that day out of the blue and making me aware of things I feel most consumers don't know! They were also very knowledgable about the windows, tax credit, energy rebates, and other energy savings tips! I've been to their website (www.energycalliance.org) and found all their links work well and its all very informative! I even let my children play the game it had on there like they suggested! As a serious consumer to another serious consumer, after reading this site I was a little gun shy but I gave both companies a chance and they have done nothing but deliver top dollar products and customer service and I couldn't be more impressed with both of them! Just remember not everyone is easy to please and they will do everything in their power to make someone or a company in this case look bad. Don't let one bad apple let you stray from working with a wonderful company!

I thought to good to be true and truly believed this to be a scam. The phone room supervisor offered over 100 refrences of current customers and reffered me to trouble shooter.com. He also suggested that before meeting with energy research group that I call other company's and get estimates. I did as suggested and here is whatIfound: Champion windows offered me double payne windows at roughly 800 per window. K&H Offerd a similiar window @ 1,000 per window. Carpeted my entire house insulated my attic to an R-50 weather stripped my doors, Installed a progamable thermostat, paid me 25$ per month and guarnteed me a 40% savings on my energy bill. I am paying out of pocket 75 dollars for brand new carpet weatherization and Simonton triple payne windiws.
