"Brian Johnson signature - Assigned Resolution Agent    This was mailed from Sacramento, CA  and not from the State of California government.  All kinds of BS to make it look official.

I spoke to a Kenny and Grady at different times about a warrant letter received for state taxes.  When asking more about the letter, they do not work for the state mentioned, but are tax attorneys soliciting with a fake letterhead.  When questioning more,  they both hung up on me.

I don't think there is any such animal as a Warrant Letter, but it sure sounds scary. Maybe they have them in India?  100% a scam attempt.

Very aggressive and disrespectful when questioned about their validity. Even more so when called back and get accused of being a scam lol

Received a letter with the wrong companys name looking to collect taxes. requested i call 800-215-8162. When I called and person realized that I was not falling for the scam he got nasty and hung up.  I am reporting him to US Postal inspector.  Please do the same if you have any dealings with him. He will take advantage of the elderly.

Exactly what happened to me.  I have no liens and they hung up on me. Imagine being so desperate this is the job you agreed to take

Interesting - that is not a legal concept we see very often here, it is somewhat more common in the UK. Based on posts here and reports in other numbers threads, I think the scammers are pushing with Scary Legal Mumbo-Jumbo. Sadly, this works on a lot of people.

The way to challenge this is demand their physical address and then send them a "not me" type letter by certified mail. If you want a copy of that letter, reply to me and I will get you one. If you have no outstanding debts, it is OK to not call them back.

In general with the debt scammers, as soon as you ask for their location, they cut contact. They know they can't prove out the debt, the scam works because they figure most people can be harassed and bullied into paying something.

A voice on the phone, or in an voice mail or email is not legal notice of a debt.
