This is not a scam. (800) 223-9899 is a debt collector for many hospitals. You may owe a copay from your insurance or the remainder of your medical bill. This has nothing to do with harassing religious calls or scams. They do not ask for your full SSN. They ask for the last four digits to verify who you are.
They will even provide the date of visit and hospital name. Because of doctor-patient confidentiality, a debt collector would not be able to obtain this information.
I called back, provided my information, and verified that this call was legitimate because of something I owed.

It's not a collection agency. It's a billing agency for medical care. You may think you don't have a bill due but it's always possible to have something your insurance doesn't cover. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian and received a call from this number to let me know that they didn't have the correct address to bill me. She helped me with the questions that I had. Call back. They aren't there to hassle you. You had the service they need their money.

Rcvd a call 5-14-14 @ 8:30 am identifying themselves as Impass, pertaining to outstanding bill at ( will not mention Plantation FL Hospital)  Before they could discuss this matter with me as the person they were calling about is my mother who has Alzheimer's I would need to answer 3 questions to verify I was who I said I was. My mother has a zero balance at any hospital, informed Ms. freaking Impass and hung up on her.

Got a call last night at 8:45 p.m. at home (cell phone).  Said they were from, actually, after having her repeat twice, I still couldn't get the name of the company.  She said I owed my doctor $187.  Also that a statement had gone out.  I asked for the doctor's name and it was actually one I'd gone to in March.  She had my address, too. I said to send another statement.

Called my doctor's office this morning, was told I don't owe anything.  BEWARE People... NEVER give anything to them via phone.  ALWAYS call your doctor's office, and check your EOBs.

responding to NPAS "this is not a scam pay your bills please" - NPAS is unprofessional and do not give them any important info over the phone.  Ask for proof in writing.  Received a call from them but rep hung up when i answered.  Called back to find out who called and the lady wanted all this info from me and how i was going to pay bill, seriously!?!  identity theft hello!! they may be legit collectors but this is noway to run a business and you should most definately NOT give them anything until they provide you something in writing. they may not consider themselves debt collectors but that's exactly what they are and just as unprofessional.  pay your bills please, cut me a break i'm not giving you any info over the phone.  you do not scare me and should realize that being nasty and shady doesn't get the bills paid. i don't even know what freaken bill she was talking about, i'm broke and pay my bills (not always in full at one time, but i pay) and this bill, i haven't a clue!!

They represent themselves as Medi Credit/Impass or your local hospital acting as if they have important information.  I contacted the local hospital they do not use Impass or Medi Credit.  This is a scam!!

They called and left a message.  I called back and the guy wouldn't tell me who they are or what they do.  I hung up right away.  I think that they are trying to make people for bills that they don't owe.  Beware!

I got a call from this number on Oct 7, 2014, and it was The Women's Hospital in Houston calling about a bill that we had audited back in May. It was not collections. I did have a baby there, so it was a legit call. If you got a call from them and have never been there, you should call back and find out why. They could simply be calling the wrong number.

And how in the heck and I supposed to verify that they are who they say they are?  I'm not giving out my information to some random person who calls my cell phone from a 1-800 number, can barely speak English and has no way to identify who they are!  If you have all of my information, then send me a bill in the mail and if I owe the money, I will gladly pay it.

    NPAS
http://www.npasweb.com/  NPAS (National Patient Account Services) is a debt collection agency that works for medical facilities to collect unpaid medical bills.  Their website states very clearly that their business is in collections, however, the person who called me denied that they were a collection agency.  She said she was calling me regarding a "business matter" for Eastside Medical Center but wouldn't tell me what it was about until I verified my home address and date of birth.  I told her I had a payment plan set up with that facility and was making monthly payments as agreed.  I told her if she knew my address then she could send me a bill in the mail.  I don't give our my personal information to someone calling my cell phone from an unidentified 1-800 number who can barely speak english.

Received a generic call. Message left my automated service no identify information as required by law. Only toll free number, name of a hospital and this is an important matter. Means a collection call. Since we get wrong number calls routinely for other people debt. Other people also live in our house. I will not be call the 800 number back. I will only communicate by mail if address to me and my own debt.

Received a collection call on behalf of a hospital which much be the original debtor. However did not state name of collection agency calling or name of person debt owed. Strange since most collection companies do so. This is a new number, I receive may a wrong numbers and I do not recall ever providing this number to anyone.
