Researching a piece of junk mail from "Tax Processing Center" to see if it's a scam and found numerous red flags.  1)  When this telephone number printed on the letter is dialed during the business day, no one answers - the call goes straight to hold music.  2)  The return address on the outer envelope is vague and does not include a physical address nor a post office box, just the name of the county.  3)  Inside, the letterhead says Tax Processing Unit which does not match the name on the return address:  tax processing Center.  Additionally, the body of the letter references federal taxes so the notice would not come from the county.

Received for the third time letters from Tax Processing Center and a county name. No address or PO Box. It refers to Federal Taxes and a lien on business. Called the phone number 1-800-241-7039 and "Kenny" answered. I told him that I had received a letter about a Lien and he asked the amount. I told him there were 2 letters each with a different amount. He then asked for the "higher amount"
and asked what kind of business. I responded with "You sent the letter you tell me". He hung up on me. This business closed four years ago in good standings with both the Federal Government and the local Government. SCAM!!!

Our non-profit received a lien letter - I googled the number provided on the letter and saw the prior messages that this is a scam. Thank you to the people posting the prior messages on this account!

we also got the letter. tried calling and was on hold for 25 minutes. It finally hung up with a message "no longer valid"
