Red Cross. Wanted to set up a time for blood donation. Left message first time. Called several hours later and did not leave a message.

Red Cross blood donation for me as well.  Left message first time, have been called nearly a dozen times since, with blank messages left (no caller, only background noise).  Messages range from 1 second to 30 seconds.

They called to confirm a donation time tomorrow.   You all better hope that people like me keep taking their calls should you or loved one ever need blood!

Thanks for letting me know that it was the Red Cross.  The person calling, however, did not; only background office noise.

If the identity doesn't come up on my caller id, I don't answer it.  Sometimes it says unavailable with no number or the 800 number.  On occasion, I will answer it.  Red Cross may be losing out with no identification.

I've seen Red Cross calls before come up with their name, and I'll pick up then. This time it came up as "unavailable", which I don't answer. If they want people to respond, they should identify themselves.

it cannot come up as the american red cross due to 9/11- with people who have families over seas if they see the words RED CROSS on their caller ID- they think it is in relation to them.

If I want to give blood, I'll Call them or drop on by.  These calls have got to stop.  It's borderline harassment; especially not identifying themselves.

I have asked repeatedly to remove me from their Call List, as I am no longer able to donate due to cancer.    Still get calls 4-5 times a week.

Same I suspect, as I had just donated to Red Cross that day!  I've requested that they no longer call me due to incompetence on their part.  Takes 3 calls to schedule a donation, I no longer bother I just go in.

I can't donate - but other family members do - to the 'local' blood bank every time they can within the limits - is it once a month? I just don't remember. I do not see the need for the Red Cross to set up appointment times. Our blood donations go to local needs. Maybe the Red Cross is collecting for other emergencies? I think they need to talk to local hospitals about sharing what they get. Better than calling and not leaving messages. I too do not answer numbers that come up as unknown.

call on 12/14/11, came up as unavailable (which I won't answer).  doesn't seem like a thoughtful practice to call with no ID (if indeed there is an issue with Red Cross -- and I doubt that there is -- then use "Blood Donation" or some such) and leaving no message.  Pretty much equates them with other bottom-feeding phone bank operations.

From what I understand, the Red Cross shops out the automated calling.  However, from speaking with some of the staff, there still seems to be an issue with integration (i.e. regional blood center vs. national organization)

I agree with you. If the Red Cross wants people to answer, Identify yourself. Otherwise...delete!

They DO call often, and at inconvenient times... however, it's for a good cause.

I answered and a very pleasant person was on the other end just confirming my appointment, with a gentle reminder to double up on fluids and to eat lightly before showing up...  the cal lasted 38 seconds total.

I am glad I answered... because I might have otherwise forgotten.

Got a phone call this morning from 800-272-2447. I let it go to voicemail, per usual, and it left a voicemail recording claiming for me to log into my account to claim $230. It was from www.goatt203.com.  When I put the address into Google, I get a warning that it could be a phishing website so I haven't been past that warning.  I knew something was fishy about it because I don't have ATT and the recording sounded sketchy.  Looks like it's yet another scam.
