- LoritaThis number called 3 times. Each time they say due to high call volume your call can't be answered. I had a card with BB&T, but closed it. I called a branch locally and they said they couldn't stop the calls. So I am trying to block the call.
- PeterJust got a call from this number, but they hung up immediately after I answered the phone.
I do have a credit card from BB&T - I guess that could be them? - irritated customerWhoever they are, legit or not, they called my grandmother's house today, 8.5years after I lived with her. They refused to tell her anything but I was overdue and needed to give them my account info right then. Here's the catch, my bank is in 100% clean standing, neither of my cards or accounts with them were even close to being late, matter of fact the next bill wasn't even due for another 5 days and it clearly wasn't late. Bb&t does NOT have my grandmother's info, they never knew I lived there and I have 0 late payments for any account (house, cars, credit cards, student loans) nothing is "legit" about this # as per the customer service adviser I called thru my trusted bb&t branch. This is a SCAM

- JWallaceI received a message on my cell phone, tried to call it back and was put on hold. I then got an urgent message at work. I called BB&T 1800 customer service number and they confirmed this as a fraudulent call. They have no numbers corresponding to the number in question.
- Caller: Claimed to be BBT
- Houston C. RossThey claim to be BB&T, yet when I went to BB&T they say they have no records of calling me.

- AstrolyreThe recording asked me to hold for an operator. I waited 10 seconds and hung up. Called them back and they said they were BB&T calling about my wife's (by name) account. I verified address and phone number for her, but I didn't want to give last digits of SSN. She said that was fine, just get my wife to call the local branch (people who we know) to find out what they're calling about. This call seems legitimate to me.
It turns out a local merchant ran her credit card and it was declined. So, they ran the debit card for the purchase, but both cards actually posted a payment -:she was double billed. The bank is calling to fix that problem for her. This was not a scam call. - post pending moderator approval
- H FriendOn my voicemail: Call claimed to be from bank BB&T "not a sales call". Left 800 number to call back and 8-digit "reference" number to use. I was suspicious and googled the number. Got many reports of suspicious responses. Called local branch of bank. My accounts all in good standing, no problems. Bank said number was "fraudulent" call. Be safe, check on unsolicited calls whether from bank, police, FBI, or whatever if anything seems odd or unexpected.

- Tygerkat replies to JohnWhile this may or may not be a number for BB&T, you need to be aware scammers spoof legitimate phone numbers all the time. Never give personal information to a caller, no matter who they claim to be. Instead, hang up and call a known number for them, such as the one on the back of your card or on your statement.
- ChrisThis number has been verified as a fake BB&T account from my local branch. It sounded VERY proffesional so don't give them any information or even call them back! BB&T will send you a letter if you are late on payments.

- Sincere JonesThis Legitimately BB&T, they called my wife in reference to my credit card account, They advised her because she was not on the account as a Co-signer, or Authorized user they could not disclose information to her. I called back they mailed me a Written Authorization form for my wife to be able to discuss account with them, they called from 1-800-289-6385, & 1-800-995-9070 they are legitimately BB&T. All they are trying to do is their Job, & the reason the local branch doesn’t know about them or says they are a scam is because they literally don’t take the time to ask if you have an ID # from the associate, the associate will give it to you without hassle if y’all would ask, the young man give me his and I verified that in fact he does work with BB&T as an actual employee.

- CynthiaMy 93 year old mother who has a registered do not call number keeps receiving at least 4 robo calls a day from this number. The robocaller says they are BB&T Bank, now Truist, and wants to speak with my youngest brother who hasn't lived at that address for over 30 years. There is no option to say "you have the wrong number".

- MikeHuntleton replies to Anquinette PassmoreWhat would be a smarter thing to do, ask strangers on a phone look up site or go to the BB&T website, get a published number off it and ask someone who actually works at BB&T?
