I found that a company whos uses this phone number charges me 4 times. Since each tranjection costs $13, I didn't recognize these accidents. When I called to this number, the recorded voice required my telephone number, but funny thing is my number is not registered and I can't go further. If anybody who knows this company, please report it.

i got an "unknown" call with a message to call this number and it was Mediacom.

My mom had an unknown call saying to call 1800 296 8603.  When she did they said that it was mediacom, but then she was given another number to call and it was 888 438 2427 which i guess is charter comunications which is not even connected with mediacom.  When the 800 number on her mediacom bill was called they did not know the first 800 number that was  called.  They however did want to know my moms full ss number.  My recomendation is to get as much info from them as you can but do not give them any, then call what ever number you have for what ever bill or company they say they are.

We have been getting phone calls from an unknown caller on our caller ID. They leave us voice mails to call the 800-296-8603 number back about our Mediacom account. Well I know the Mediacom number shows up when they are trying to call you. Also at 1 time they actually talked to my son and they told him he owed something like $375 for his bill, which he knew was paid in full 2 weeks earlier. This pisses me off when they keep calling like this. Yet when you talk to Mediacom they have no record of making any calls to you and they keep track of every conversation or call made to them.
