this is a number from which english & spanish speaking representatives aledge you have a past due bill from the local electric company and ask for your credit card to clear your delinquency.

Do not give any personal information, its a hoax!!!! 👎👎👎

Received a message saying we had an electricity past due bill from the local electric company. They proceded to tell me the instructions for buying a card at CVS or Walgreens to deposit money and "pay my bill" . We almost got scammed if it wasn't for this post that I read last minute. Thank you very much.

Got a call in Spanish saying our last 2 payments for IPL (our electric company) had not been received. Gave us the number 1-866-217-9175 to call to pay bills or electricity would be disconnected. This is a scam. Funny thing was the guy spoke in Spanish. I happen to Speak Spanish so I wonder where they got our number from since my wife is the one who pays the bills.

It’s one year after the original post and this exact thing from this exact number just happened to my family. If I had not looked up the law in New York State on when companies are permitted to cut off your power we would have be scammed.

Was told my electric at business would be shut off unless I went to a CVS pharmacy or 7-11 and purchase 2 green cards and load them with a total of $900 and then call her with receipt number to be considered paid in full
