Call from local hospital's billing office wanting to know when I planned to pay my bill.  Informed the lady (who was polite) that I had just received the bill last week and would pay it when I got an itemized bill and my insurance clam form.  Thought it was a bit fishy that she could not tell me what the charge was for other than labs.  She did know the amount.

And you work for who?

Wouldn't you remember a trip to the hospital? But you had to call and verify that the bill was legit? You and "Florida Patient" both are working for them... scam if you ask me

The caller stated it was the office of our local hospital.  They wanted my husband's social security number and home address for verification before talking to him.  They also wanted his birth date.  They would not say why they called so we ended the called and did not finish answering their questions.

DONT call them, back & don't answer your phone. I answered, a recorded message came on saying this is not a sales call.
That they need to talk about my account. 1st red flag they didn't say then what company was calling.

I think they are getting info from Medicare or somehow that you or your family went to the hospital or had some kind of procedure.
If you know you owe call the place that did the procedure and ask if you have been sent to Collections. See if you can't work with them instead of the collection agency.

Darn they are getting really good. And when you call their number you think you are calling a legit company. YIKES but again, 2nd red flag there answering system doesn't say their company name at the beginning of the message.

It's a bill collection agency.

Called asking for my ex. When I said he wasn't at this number she said so I have the wrong number. I said yes. She asked me to contact him and tell him to pay his ER bill.

Do not hang up. This is an important message. We need to talk to you. This played over and over. The caller I'd said Cmfy Health Service. They called twice today.

Any moron who calls and demands an immediate payment using my credit card, is either a scam, or believes that Santa really exists??

Hard to believe people still don't understand calling from unknown numbers don't deserve to be answered. Too much scamming these days.

scam

i just got a call stating they were an extended business of a health care facility in our local area.  One that I have NEVER gone to.  This is a fake call.  they stated a reference number of 069282.  I will not call back, since I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE.  It's also an auto generated - not real person - on the voicemail.  The local hospitals have also all changed their names to entirely different names - not the one mentioned in the voicemail.

This number rang my cell, I didn’t recognize it so I let it go to VM; no msg left, so caller remains unk.

From what I read in the comments, this seems to be a billing "Business Office" for a variety of hospitals, not just the one they're calling you about. It may be a legit call.
