They said they tried to call and then sent me a letter from Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company.  They want to inspect and insure my steam boiler???  What steam boiler?  Some kind of scam?

This is a boiler inspection company. They where lining up a time to inspect your boiler. They may have miss dialed that other number.

HSB uses information that is a matter of public record, in this case state certification of certain boilers and pressure vessels which require an annual inspection to certify their safe and proper operation, to try to sound like they have inside information to sell you services.  It is an underhanded way to trying to establish a business relationship with you, which is not the way most legitimate business people like to establish relationships.  Thus we do not give HSB the time of day when they call every year.  If they offered a needed service without the backhanded attempts to get their foot in the door, maybe they'd get somewhere but their reputation is sealed with us.
