The caller identified himself as being from American Express "something" and mentioned a rewards program. He said a word after American Express but I didn't catch it; it may have been "one". He then asked if I was the financial decision maker. I said no, and then he said they offered this program to small businesses and nonprofits, and looking at our website, he saw that we were neither of these. (We're government.) Then he promptly thanked me for the good work that we do and said good-bye.
So I cannot say for sure if it was a scam but it was definitely a marketing call.
