- MaryI received several calls. I do not answer unknown numbers. I did finally call back. The foreign person that answered said, I am a debt collector. I do not have ANY outstanding debts, so I hung up and blocked the number
- Caller: "Debt collector"
- Call type: Debt collector
- M MDebt collectors looking for someone but they are calling at hours in violation of federal statutes. Tried getting a company name and they gave me the runaround. I will guess this is a sham operation trying to collect on nonexistent debt.
- Caller: Refused to give me a real name
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mat| 12 repliesI got a called from this number. It was a miss called . I called them back and a guy told me he is a debt collector and tried to ask my info. And then I asked him why should I provide my info to you? I told him that is illegal to call people on Sunday to collect debt. Then I hung up.

- BigA replies to Mat| 9 repliesWell, actually it isn't illegal to call on a Sunday, as the FDCPA specifies that they can only call you between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm your time, but doesn't specify a day. The exception would be if your particular State Law restricted the day. I would suggest that you educate yourself on how debt collection is supposed to work, starting here:
FDCPA: https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/documents/pl ... actices-act.pdf
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

© - DonnaI've received calls from this number every day this past week. I don't answer unknown numbers. I didn't call back, they didn't leave a message either. I've dealt with collection agencies in the past. They can spend paperwork to house if they need to reach me.

- BrittanyAnswered call from this number today. It sounded like the person was talking to me on an air strip - it was so loud! The first thing the caller said (a male, who sounded of Indian descent), which was barely audible, was "Hello, can you hear me?" I simply responded, with "How can I help you?" He stated his name, which I couldn't understand, and said he was calling for [my name]. I asked what company he was with, and he again stated his name, and said he was calling about a personal business matter with [my name]. I hung up after asking a second time what company he was with, and he repeated verbatim his prior response. He never specified that it was an attempt to collect a debt, nor would he provide a company name, and the "can you hear me" scam has been covered by our news recently.
- SteffSomeone from this number has called at least 4 times today, I answered each time and as soon as I did, they hung up.

- StephThis number just called. I answered because I have retained an attorney to file bankruptcy and would love to give any debt collectors his name and number but the caller wouldn't say anything. I repeated, "hello" at least 10 times and never got a response. Eventually they hung up.

- ChrisThis number called today, left no message. Hung up before the end of my screening message. I screen all calls now. Ridiculous world!
- TiredThey won't let up. Keep ignoring them.
- Caller: Midland Credit Management Company

- CharleyHas been calling 2-3 times over the past two weeks. Usually calls twice in the morning between 8.30 and 10.00 am. I do not answer unknown callers--no message left--hangs up before it gets to my voice message. I am unable to block this phone number--extremely annoying!!
- GeorgeThey have been calling for over a month now looking for a Tamara Parks. When I tell them that I've never heard of this person they tell me I'm lying or hang up and call back later. I have blocked 10 of their numbers to this date.
- Caller: Refused
- Call type: Debt collector
- DRSCalled my cell phone which is just designated for my family and only they know the number. If call is not in my contact list, I block it. Also if I answer my landline and the person has a foreign accent, I politely tell them they must be calling the wrong Country, they are being warned not to call this number again and hang up.
- JoJo Dancer| 1 replyThis number called my landline two days in a row, but I don't answer unknown calls. They didn't leave a message so I assume it's not important.
- Caller: Unknown
- FreidaThis # calls all the time. Sometimes leaves a message in which it seems to be a Spanish speaking individual and other times just hangs up. I'm sure it's a debt collector because they seem to be able to give the name of the person being Juan Vega. I have finally blocked the #

- TfThis number just called me and didnt leave a messege so I dont know who it is and I didnt answer it. Let it ring as I dont answer unknown numbers. Good thing I came here first and saw it might be midland but how would they get a persons phone number if it is them.
- AnnoyedThey call all the time all day long and usually never leave a message. I screen my calls and don't answer if I don't know the number. A couple of times some guy says my name and mispronounces it and then says stupid stuff like wake up (my name) and then says Happy birthday! I got another call this morning at 8:25am, while I was sleeping and it happened again! What good is the DNC List if people still call and bother you???!!!

- THEY LIVE| 1 replyCalled but left no message. I gather from the other expeiriences left here that it was Midland credit. They call me continually from dozens of different phone numbers and I always block them. I have had a hard time with money in the past, it's true, but my problem was always lack of credit due to having to support a mentally ill family member from an early age, not poor credit due to overdue payments and I have always paid the few bills that I have had on time. The only thing I owe on is my student loan and I am absolutely certain of this my fiance and I check our credit reports regularly. This is a scam and if they call you, just block them. No one owes them anything! 👐
