I rec'd a fax from the "National Number Removal Assistance Association", aka "NNRAA" yesterday.  This was the phone number printed on their fax.  They claim to help get your fax number removed from fax lists.  I was skeptical, so I googled them and could not find them listed.  Does anyone know if they are legitimate?

This has to be a scam. They claim to be a non-profit organization that will remove my fax number from fax lists.

"Simply fax your unwanted faxes to our fax number below and we will contact the senders to have your fax number removed from their lists." Yeah right!!

If I'm stupid enough to fall for that, I DESERVE to receive the 100's of junk faxes that will be coming my way. There is no way to ID these people either.

THe best thing to do is to go to www.fcc.gov and report this as an unwanted fax. Type 'unwanted fax' in the search box. Click on the link you need. There is a form that you must fill out (done online). The FCC will then investigate the number and the company and respond to you by mail. They determine wether this is a solicitation or scam. I have done this with several unwanted faxes and it has cut down on the receipt of them.

After going to www.ftc.gov they will refer you to the "National Do Not Call Registry" https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx. This is for keeping telemarketers from calling but it also works for unwanted faxes. It may take a month or so for these faxes to stop. If they do not stop you can file a complaint with the FTC and they will investigate it.

Funny thing is, I googled the phone number the fax came from and it is a law firm in Colorado.  Go figure.

Received a fax requesting the recipient to call this phone number to have unwanted (junk) faxes stopped.  It appears that the caller would be actually authorizing the onslaught of many unwanted faxes because they would be the ones approaching the sender, thereby granting permission.  The fax represents itself as the NNRAA (National Number Removal Assistance Association, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist recipients of unsolicited facsimile ads, etc.  This organization is not on record anywhere, and one would assume this is a scam.

Upon further investigation, the sender number is a fax that belongs to a Farmers Insurance Agency in Boulder Colorado, Thor Borrensen, MBA.  The address listed is 2525 15th Street, Unit 1B, Denver Colorado 80211-3957, Phone number 303-935-3355 or 1-866-832-9100.  If this is correct, it can also be assumed that there have been violations of ethics committed here too.  This office is also shared by an attorney of the same last name of Borresen.

    http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/unwantedfaxes.html

my fax has been listed already on the "do not call list".

If you find a way to be reimbursed for all the wasted paper and ink, let me know!  Every morning I come in to find several pieces of garbage on my fax machine, what a way to start the day of sales calls that waste my time answering the telephone!!!!!Thanks to everyone that gave out the FCC info, I feel like I've finally found a way to beat up that playground bully from 1st grade.  I looked around my office and found a bunch of junk faxes I had put aside to call the "removal" number when I had a chance and filed complaints on every one of them.  How impowering!

I too received that and have not been able to verify.  Assuming it is an advertisement that captures your fax # for additional Junk Faxing

Our business received this fax on 10/25.  I was skeptical and thought it may be from the same people that put out "The Fax Police".  On trying to find info on them, I came across this site.  This is just a ploy to make
sure the fax # is legitimate and then your number is then sold to more junk
spammers.  As frustrating as the junk faxes are, it's better to just file
them in the circular file than to end up on more junk list.

I got the same fax, and am curious. However, some time ago I got a fax from The Fax Police, who say the same thing. So we tried that about a year ago, and it reduced our spam faxes by about 90%. We hardly get any of them anymore. The Fax Police: 800-473-6209.

I received this fax on 11/11/2008 and am finally getting around to researching this fax.  I thought it was a scam, I am glad that I searched the number and wound up here like everyone else.  Such wasted time, ink and paper trying to stop the unwanted faxes from coming.  I hope someone gets a good solution and soon!  :)
