It was Qwest. They called to remind me about a payment I missed.

I'm assuming it's the same as above.  But we show only 1 payment behind, which should not be a problem.  They didn't leave a message, which none of these company's ever do.

Seems a little suspicious to me.  Isn't it spelled Qwest, not Quest.  Something is fishy here.  Qwest is not a government organization, 800-423-8994 is the state of Utah I.R.I.S., identity theft reporting system.

I used to work for a company that does billing similar to Qwest. They sometimes call customers who are 1 payment behind as a courtesy reminder because oftentimes it's just an oversight.

I called the number back and it was Qwest, but I was bit confused, since my account showed current.

I got a text from the number 70650 that read "VZW FREE MSG: Please call Qwest today at 1-800-423-8994 for important info about your Qwest-Verizon Wireless combined bill. There is no charge to call Qwest."

I looked up the text number, and many people had been receiving texts from the same number but with similar messages from several different banks, and several different numbers to call about "account information." I haven't called the number they sent me, because I'm not the one who handles the phone bill, and Qwest/Verizon should know that. Also, the Qwest/Verizon switchover happened sometime last year, and I've already been informed of the changes to the account, about six months ago.

I received the following mysterious IMPORTANT NOTICE from Qwest by way of postal mail:

<i>Our records indicate there is a total past due amount of $69.02 on your account. We appreciate your business and we want you to continue to enjoy Qwest services. Therefore, to avoid disconnection of your services, we must receive payment by September 4, 2009. Should local service be disconnected, a restoral charge of $25.00 per line and a security deposit may apply to restore service. If optional services such as long distance, internet service, or Qwest Digital TV/Internet are suspended for non-payment, additional restoral charges will apply.

My account is current, the monthly bill is paid in full, on the day it is received, every single month.

I noticed the phone number was different that the usual Qwest number I call (1 800-244-1111), and I noticed the tone of the message was very similar to a Nigerian scam letter. I called the familiar Qwest number I was used to, and I was told by the almost-helpful automated "voice recognition"-like system that my current amount due was $137.37, which was totally different than both of the amounts on the vague NOTICE I received in the mail.

The NOTICE is ridiculous because I only have basic telephone service and the lowest speed DSL. No "bundled savings" or "TV service" or "long distance" or "digital this" or "wireless that."

So I came to Google to investigate this mysterious number.

Got a call and didn't recognize the number, so let it go to voice mail. Caller identified himself as being from Quest and was calling for someone named Justin ______. No Justins here, and I've had this cell number for over a year and have never had any calls for anyone by that name. I'm hoping this was just a mis-dial and I'm not going to be getting repeated calls...

I got a call from this number and they left a voicemail saying they were calling from Qwest about my account.  Funny thing is, I don't have an account with Qwest and I never have.  Something weird is going on here.  I'm just going to ignore it.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone for my boyfriend. He used his phone number on his account. How did they get a hold of my number in the first place? Weird.

I just received a recorded message telling me to call Qwest at this number about my account. My account is current and my next payment is not due until January 31. I have had Qwest for 11 years now and have never received a call like this even when my payment was late.

START PAYING QWEST BY CHECK ! !

Today I went online to pay my Qwest bill only to find out that they are now charging a $1 convienence fee to make a payment on line.  What a bunch of CRAP !  

Qwest and most other Companies want you to be 'green' and go 'paperless' for what they claim to be for the environment - it has nothing to do with the environment it has to do with cutting their costs.

So with this $1 convienence fee to make a payment on line I now have to pay to make a payment - pay to help them cut costs ?

Nope - From now on I will mail them a check for my payment and I seriously encourage everyone else to do the same.

Well at least until I just get rid of them completely.

PAY QWEST BY CHECK ! !

It is actually QWEST. This is not a scam.

Qwest is a communications company. Quest is the natural gas provider for the State of Utah. They are two different companies.

This number is in fact for Qwest, calling to remind you that you are late on a payment. And, Tango One Enterprises, it is QUESTAR that provides natural gas service, not Quest.

I've been getting these calls from that number for a few days now, and from what I'm seeing on here, the number is from Qwest. However, I've never had an account with Qwest, so either they've gotten the wrong number or this number used to belong to another person.

Oh well, it's not my problem, so I don't have to worry about it.

I work for CenturyLink/Qwest and this is indeed a company number. It is our credit management team. They may call to remind a customer to pay a bill, or to collect on an unpaid balance.

Got a call from Century Link (Stating it is a recording.)  thanking me for using their services and contact then if I needed help. Rather strange as I never even heard of them before.

It is not.  I don't even use CenturyLink or Qwest, and my cell number is not given out for any of this bill junk, we use our home number, which by the way is via my cable company and VOIP.  So this is not Qwest/Centurylink calling to remind you of a bill...I don't have one!

Maybe the telemarketers in that fine company use the same outgoing phone number so people will answer for some sales scam!!

I just signed up online for CenturyLink internet as I am relocating. I do not currently have active service. I'm wondering if this is just a follow up?
