- Meggot another call from this number today, had one last week. Call comes up with no name on caller ID. Male answered with Verizon Wireless, asked me for my number and my SS info. When I told him no he was offensive. He refused to identify himself further. He pressured me for my information until I hung up. He refused to give me a reason why they called me.

- beth replies to bethi called it and verizon wireless answered. i asked why do they call, let it ring once and hang up? he said, "sorry for the inconvenience". I said, it's not an inconvenience, it's HARASSMENT!. he said he'd mark the number do not call. if they call again, i will report them to the FCC.
- Joe RattiganGot a call from this number and they asked me if I wanted to upgrade to a new phone. Eventually, the guy told me that my contract was set to expire "very soon." When I asked when exactly it was set to expire he said November, which is incorrect. I said I was all set with an upgrade but he was a tad persistent.

- steve replies to Carol in Upstate NYThis number is currently active. They are a third-party vendor for Verizon Wireless. Automated system dials off of that number which is why you get the daily, annoying but legal most places, phone call that disconnects after a ring (usually if you have a ringbacktone that it assumes is an answering machine). If you call back you can get a real person. They are offering an early upgrade with renewal... a legit offer that I verified and one that should also arrive to your email from the Verizon Address if you have that notification preference. You can be removed from their call list by asking. Hope this helps others.
- Jim, NYI have received repeated calls from this number during the day but never have the opportunity to answer them due to work. Today (wed), I happened to have a day off so I answered the call. There was an immediate hang up on the other end. So I called the number back where a female identified herself as someone from Verizon wireless and to verify my phone number. I asked why? She replied that it was a promotional call from Verizon. So I gave her my phone number. She then asked me to hold so she could pull up my account information. She then asked for additional information like my full name and last 4 digits of my social security number. I once again asked why she needed this information? She replied that Verizon has a special promotion. I said how do I know you're with Verizon? You called me and hung up and I called back. I said if you didn't hang up when you originally called me then you wouldn't need to verify my information. She didn't respond for 5 seconds so I said thanks and ended the call. I don't know if they are actually from Verizon or not but I do not see the need to provide personal information when they're receiving a call from the number they originally called in the first place. It appears from other posts here that there is a track record of calling and hanging up and then you have to call back. Why would Verizon allow this to happen and not just allow the call to be connected when its originally made? Maybe it's just me and not being liberal with passing my personal information to people I don't know.
