I did not call, but got a postcard as well and thought it was fishy, as everything else from my mortgage company comes in envelopes.

Got a postcard about my mortgage. As if anything regarding my Mortages would arrive on a postcard.

Some kind of mortgage related scam. Sent me a yellow postcard claiming they needed to discuss an important matter with me regarding my mortgage and mortgage company. The fine print indicates they got their info from public records.

Always call the real company to see if number is associated with them.

I received a yellow postcard that I need to contact this 800 number regarding mortgage loan. Looks very suspicious specially without a return address. This is a SCAM!!!

    I received a postcard saying I had recently closed my mortgage (listed my mortgage co. by name) saying,
"We have been trying to reach you regarding your mortgage (listing my mortgage co's name).  This is time sensitive so please call us at (800) 496-2959.  It also included a 9 digit Mortgage ID # .
    I did not feel comfortable with receiving this but without giving it a second thought I called the number.... immediately I was connected to a recording with no options available to speak to a live representative!  I was requested to enter the 9 digit Mortgage ID #, I did comply to see what information I would retrieve...the recording  informed an error had been transpired at closing and I had not been offered mortgage insurance protection encase of my death!  Ok that's fine but I was expecting the opportunity at this point to speak to a live agent or representative instead I was promptly asked for my age!  IMMEDIATELY I hung up the phone I was NOT going to supply any further information because my Mortgage Company has that information!
   To be on the safe side, not knowing if there had been an undetected problem with my mortgage I called my Mortgage Co..  My mortgage is fine standing, no errors were detected in the process of doing the paperwork and NOT only did they NOT send out the postcard the phone number (800) 496-2959 was NOT AFFILIATED in anyway shape or form with my Mortgage Co. .........IT IS A SCAM!!
    After closing on my mortgage I did receive multiple letters from insurance companies offering insurance to cover my mortgage in the event of my death but at least I knew whom I was dealing with but this postcard implied it was from my mortgage company. I allowed others to read it as well & they as well thought it was my Mortgage Co. trying to contact me so please whatever you do, call your mortgage company & see if it's from them. I also Googled the number which said IT IS A SCAM!

It also states, "this is a solicitation for insurance."

I actually called the number, entered mortgage id #, my age and my phone number. What should I do?

More than likely the call was to a lead generator company and you will most likely be getting a bunch of solicitation calls for everything related to a Mortgage, like refinancing, Insurance, home equity loans, etc.  By you giving them that info, they now have a valid reason to call you and they probably recorded the call.
