I just started getting called from this number on 10/4/11.  They called 3 times that day.  I was only able to answer the last time and it was an automatic voice message system saying it was in relation to a Macy's Visa account and a personal matter and I needed to call them back today.  I called them back and was put on hold and the connection kept going in and out and finally it hung up on me.  They called again twice on 10/6 and I called them back.  This time I reached a lady, in India, she had just as much trouble understanding me as I did her, and she claimed it was my fault.  She asked for my account number, I said I didn't have that on me right now.  So she asked for my phone number so I gave that to her.  She put me on hold for 5 minutes, came back and asked for my name.  I asked for more information about why I was getting called.  She asked for my name again disregarding my question and pretending like she didn't understand me.  I asked again.  She didn't understand me again and asked for my name.  I gave it to her and she acted like she was looking at a balance due but never said if I owed anything or not and proceeded to ask for my social security number.  I said I don't feel comfortable giving that information to you, what is this phone call I'm getting about?  She again acted like she didn't understand me and then disappeared for a little, said hello? and then hung up on me.  Freaked out, I called the Macy's number on my credit card bill, talked with a woman there and she said I have 0 balances, Macy's will never call and solicit you, and that my phone number may be linked to another account.  I gave her my phone number and she said it's in there with a different account that is not connected to me at all, so they took my number out of there and hopefully I will not be called again.  We'll see.

IF YOU ARE GETTING CALLED FROM THIS NUMBER, contact Macy's through you're credit bill.  DO NOT deal with this number.

Plus Macy's doesn't work with Visa anymore, my card is an American Express card, as all new and current Macy's cards should be.

This is a Macy's collector's number.  I was also one payment behind (I usually pay on time, but I was just forgetting once since I was too busy).   I even have arranged payment online at Macy's Quick Pay.  Even after that I kept receiving the phone from 1800-511-3207.  They charged extra $35 for the late payment.  They said that at least it will take 48 hours to stop those phone calls.  I even contacted 1800-511-3207 several times.  I even waited for 30min twice, but no one answered.  (no music, no sound. Once they said that agents are answering the phone calls from other people, you will never hear anything from them.)  This Macy's collection makes me crazy.  Feel like I am a criminal or something.

I received a call today from Macy's telling me to call 1-800-511-3207.  I called this number and the man wanted my Macy's credit card number and my address over the phone.  I told him I'm not comfortable giving that information out over the phone and he got mad and said that" this is a secure line" and "we are Macys".  I told him I will look this up on line.  He just said"go for It' and hung up.  I will cancel my Macy's card today.

This is Federated department store collection department. They own Macys, Bloomingdales and other stores. Been unemployed for over two years and had to make choice between medical bills and credit card bills.  Its been bad.  Not sure what they will do to me.  I have no assets, savings, etc.

If you have no income, savings or assets, there is nothing they can do, for you are judgment-proof--

I am in the same boat you are in. Several months ago I received a threatening letter from an attorney representing a bottom feeder who had purchased a credit card debt I had defaulted on last year after my UI benefits were cut off. I wrote back and politely informed them I was judgment-proof and why. I haven't heard from them since.

Best of luck to you. This recession has destroyed a lot of lives...

This number is from the Macy’s credit card collections department. If your phone number is linked to a Macy’s credit card account with a negative balance, they will call your number to collect. If they’re calling your number in error, simply call them and ask them to remove your number from the account it’s linked to, if it’s not your account. All you need to give them is your full name and the last two digits of your social security number. I spoke to them personally and it IS the Macy’s credit card collections department. Dilemma solved!

I got a call from this number over 6 times in the past two days. I repeatedly called back and it was usually busy. When I did get through, I got a hold of someone I could barely understand. I asked why they were calling, and they said they were looking of a john winters and that I need to pay off my macy's card. Funny thing is, I do not have a Macy's located within a 50 mile radius of where I live, I have never step foot in one. I tried telling the lady I was on the phone with this, and she continually asked me for my card number, than yelled at me for calling if I do not have a card number and hung up on me. The second person I called said they would not stop calling me until I paid my past due balance. Hard to do when it is not my card. I finally called Macy's themselves (1-877-493-9207) after some research and after sitting on hold for over 20 minutes, I was told they would stop calling me.

I get 5-10 calls a day. I don't even shop at Macy's and don't have a credit card. So, what gives? Probably not phishing, but they have old phone numbers and the computer will call relentlessly until a payment is made on behalf of the phone number the original purchaser gave them. Why can't people understand that phone numbers DO NOT go with the house and that they can be changed at ANY TIME.

I got a lot of these calls too. I didn't feel comfortable calling that number back, so I called Macy's directly. I was told I had an outstanding balance. Since I'd never received a bill, I was confused. They said it had been emailed, but I double-checked and had not received it, nor could I access it online. After an hour on the phone (and moving my way up to a supervisor), they took my payment over the phone (and agreed not to charge me the $15 fee for paying over the phone). They waived the late fee and interest charges and switched me back to paper statements (even though I protested because I like to save trees).

I receive calls almost daily from this number....it is an automated vm  asking me to call back to Macy's regarding my bill.   When I call (which I have done 3 times, the last 2 asking them to please take me off their list) they do answer as Macy's.....but at least once they did ask for my SS#, which I thought was highly questionable.  After I gave them my name, they check and say "you don't owe anything, so we're not sure why you received the call in the first place."

This # is definitely Macy's collection number. I called the number on the back of the card and they confirmed it....The frustrating part is... the call is  from India  so is the number on the back of the credit card!!! Every sentence a word or two was getting cut out of the conversation...she told me the same was happening when I spoke...I mailed my payment... my balance in full they never received it. I ALWAYS pay in the store one of the very first times I mailed my payment in Geez.  this #-1-800-521-3207 called me I answered it said sorry we couldn't speak to u... call to reach a rep. So I called them back WHAT AN AWFUL FRUSTRATING 1HOUR on the phone I couldn't understand what they were saying as well as the words being cut out you definitely would think it is a scam! it was a very  miserable, frustrating 1hour spent on the phone I will think twice before I shop at Macys!!! We need to support AMERICA!!! they obviously DO NOT!!!!!

I worked at Macys until recently. It is a Macys number but the problem with outsourcing is that there is always a lot of confusion and problems. Go to the store and take care of your payments (it can be done at ANY register and all associates are trained to do so) or pay it online. Im only 3 days late and they are blowin up my phone.
