Received a call from someone with a heavy accent saying he was from the State Department of Health and Human Services. Claimed he was trying to verify my information to make sure it was correct with doctors' offices, etc. He had my correct address, but did not have the correct date of birth. He wanted me to give him my correct date of birth. I was not comfortable with that and hung up. When I reverse-searched the number on Google it came up as Washington State Department of Health. I do not live in Washington. Whole thing just seemed very suspicious.

I recieved the same call. He asked who i was and why i was using someone elses number. When i asked him if he was the police he said i could say that inferring that he was indeed the police. I too do not live in Washington state and when i asked for a supervisor he hung up. Tried calling the number with no success. Who is this moron.

It's a phishing attempt, hang up.  WA DOH doesn't call asking for that type of information...they license health professionals.

NEVER, ever, ever, click a link in an email or text from someone you don't know, no matter how legitimate or pertinent it appears.  Are you looking for an online nursing course?  If so do your research and check out the available programs from reputable colleges online.  Here's information on phishing and smishing attempts:

Make it your policy to never open emails from persons or companies you don't recognize or have business with.  Never answer calls or call back unknown numbers.  Never respond to texts from persons you don't know.  There's a lot of nasty people out there who want to steal your money and identity.  Don't make it easy for them.  Stay safe.
