    If you call the number on the back of your AmEx card, they will tell you this is a legitimate American Express number, apparently used to tell you there is a question about a card charge.

    Methinks some of the scammers / shills are relying on readers' laziness.
    They assume that a reader seeing a post such as Doughbroz' would think "hey, he found the number is OK, so I don't have to go through the time and effort to check myself".

    After all, EVERYTHING on the internet is the truth, right?
