- Doug800 Service Telemarketing scum. After two rings left message truncated due to malfunctioning outgoing message device "fires, and a free furnace inspection. To hear more about this offer press 1, or press 2 to be removed." and hangs up so fast nobody would ever be able to press 2 before disconnect.

- Tom in San DiegoLess than Doug heard above. Only got "...this offer press one or press two to be removed." and the robot was gone. Certainly questionable marketing value if a legitimate company. No call back number but maybe it was included in the cutoff portion of the spiel.

- Annoyed AgainCalled 12:03PM PST, 26Apr2016. CID=Toll Free Call. Left message about duct cleaning, etc., for $59.95. Since I'm on the Do Not Call list there is no way I would do business with these interlopers.

The call was placed to a NDNCR number, so they are already crooks. Do not do business with criminals. - DNCisaJOKE replies to psy| 4 repliesDo not call lists don't work on scam calls. Ignoring and blocking is the best choice.
- psy replies to DNCisaJOKEI know exactly what the registry is, and what to expect from it.
Do you imply that the calls I receive from the lawbreakers would somehow go down better if I also submitted to receiving calls from the legit telemarketers who do follow the law? Because that would be nonsense. But it's what I'm inferring from your little lecture and handle. - Resident47 replies to DNCisaJOKE| 2 repliesBlock-and-ignore is one choice. Documenting, reporting, and suing are others. I'll decide for myself, thanks. Psy is correct about DNCR violation being like the proverbial canary in the coal mine.
Blasting canned sales messages to cold prospects and autodialing them to mobile phones are also illegal acts, regardless of DNC registration. We've had federal law which limits abuse from telemarketers much longer than a no-call list. Maybe you can join the fight rather than grouse from your easy chair. - Anonymous replies to Resident47| 1 replyOne of the difficulties in reporting scammers is that they are from overseas using FAKE SPOOFED numbers. And these days I don't really think there is such a thing as a legit telemarketer!
- Resident47 replies to AnonymousYes, the ease with which bad actors hide themselves is a barrier to law enforcement. But they are not invisible, and eventually the trail through South Asian call centers leads right back to some creep on home soil who benefits from abuse of the phone networks.
We have plenty of honest telemarketers remaining. Most of them are in customer service, inbound calls only. Companies which value your business figured out long ago that ambushing you on the phone would drive you away. Those which value mainly your money revere the buckshot theory and don't care what you think of it so long as someone buys and nobody punishes.
