No kidding. I have had them a blocked list assuming it was a telemarketer but finally looked up the number. When you have never been late on a payment or missed a payment in 11 years I would love to know why they think they can call at all hours. Good lord.

So refinancing or moving to a different organization, what stops the new firm selling your loan servicing to carrington ? Back to square one.

First time this number has called (my call log goes back 3 years).  They hung up after 2-3 rings.  Did not leave a message.  I have a mortgage with BofA but have not received any notice from them that they sold my loan to Carrington or anyone else.  I have never made a late payment either.  This may be a scam, like those from the "IRS" that threaten to have you arrested if you don't make an immediate payment with your debit card.  Until I get something in writing I won't be answering their calls or calling them.

I get calls from Carrington, with whom I do NOT have a mortgage, they do not leave a mesage. This residence is owned, there is no loan with any institution pending. I have reported this number associated with Carrington to the Nuisance  Call Bureau  at Frontier.

Today, September 2 2017, I too received a handwritten, physically placed envelope inside the chains on my property's gate. Inside was a nondescript note saying to call this number.  I have an attorney and they have been trying to contact Carrington for a year almost after Bank of America sold my loan to them during the reloan/finance process.  I have never received a actual phone call from them and now even with an attorney someone is physically visiting my property leaving threats... I am at a loss.

They call me every month and I have never been late and always pay more than the minimum. I told them to quit calling me and wasting my time. They keep calling. NEVER had a mortgage company treat me this way.

The only way would be to refinance with another lender. You have to have a reason to refinance though other than you just want another lender. But there is nothing to prevent them from selling it again. I would just specify you do not want your loan sold to Carrington.

While I do not know what the rules are regarding PMI, and a quick web search did not reveal the answers I wanted, I do know this.  You do not get to pick and chose who your mortgage is sold to.  That is strictly up to the seller.

They called me and left a vague message that I might have a debit for something.
The call was on a Saturday at noon. When I called back the machine said the office was closed.
I called back on Monday and talk to a live person .  The woman wanted the last four of my social number and my loan number .  I told her I did not have a loan with you people, I’ve never had a loan with you people and take my name and number off of their list .
She told me without a loan number or an account number she could not do that .
SO WHERE DID THEY GET MY NUMBER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Thank You everybody shared their experiences.

They called me and I blocked the number which is what I do with all the toll free numbers. I was reading the messages above and I do not have any mortgages with Carrington Mortgage Services. I do not even recognize this company. Thus "BLOCKING THE NUMBER" is the right thing to do. Enough with TELEMARKETERS!!!!!!

Not sure you're correct in your assumptions. My mortgage was sold to them by Bank of America as well. I've never been late on a single payment. I understand it is common practice for mortgages to be bundled and sold.

While that post is confusing, it was made in 2015, and as such I doubt the poster will be back after 3 years to see your reply.  Now, why are you here?  Did you receive a call from them?  There must have been something that brought you here other than the urge to reply to a really old post.

It should be illegal for them to sell my mortgage at all. I specifically did not want certain lenders and I ended up getting stuck with them amyway. A third party using my AAA credit rating to make money is not my problem. They have no business ma king me their product. If they dollars I should see some of the profit.

I did not see your reply to me 2 years ago, but in the interests of giving new posters accurate information, let me address some of the points in your post.  Debt collectors as defined by the FDCPA are

    Quote:
    (6) The term "debt collector" means any person who uses any instrumentality of interstate commerce or the mails in any business the principal purpose of which is the collection of any debts, or who regularly collects or attempts to collect, directly or indirectly, debts owed or due or asserted to be owed or due another. Notwithstanding the exclusion provided by clause (F) of the last sentence of this paragraph, the term includes any creditor who, in the process of collecting his own debts, uses any name other than his own which would indicate that a third person is collecting or attempting to collect such debts. For the purpose of section 1692f(6) of this title, such term also includes any person who uses any instrumentality of interstate commerce or the mails in any business the principal purpose of which is the enforcement of security interests. The term does not include --

So, unless this person told you that he was from a company other than Carrington Mortgage, then he is not a debt collector, and your statement "actually they are" in response to my stating that they are not debt collector was and is erroneous.  Also, if you consistently use the "grace period" then you are consistently late with your mortgage payments.  Says so right in the contract that most people never bother to read.
