If someone will make the call back to the 800.592.7453 and act as an interested party, gather all the info that can be had for Name of Company, address, where domiciled (state of registration or incorporation) etc. then bring it back to this page and post for others, that will be a great help. With that information the FTC & Attorneys General Fraud Divisions can be contacted. Save the fax pages for time line documentaiton.

This number called and claimed to be someone from San Diego Gas and Electric claiming that in two hours our power was being shut off and that we needed to pay $500 for a past due amount. We were current so we collected the callers info and then called sdg&e who confirmed that we were all current on our bills and they took the information about the fraudulent call and reported it to their corporate security

Scam.  Tried to claim I was past due on a DTE business electric bill and that I'd received notice and it would be shut off in two hours unless I paid him direct with an express cash card I needed to purchase at Rite Aid or Walgreens.   RIGHT...sure.   I figured it out pretty quick so I just led him on that I had a "green dot" cash card already with $1,000 on it (asking him to promise to only take the $600+ that we supposedly owed).  I had him super excited that he was about to scam me out of $1,000.   I put him on hold, made him wait a bit and came back only to read number after number after number as if the cash card number was 60 -80 numbers long, telling him just a few more number to go and then asking if I needed to repeat it.   He still didn't get that I was messing with him.  But I proceeded to tell him he was a criminal loser scammer that I hoped gets arrested and then raped in prison and that until then I will continue having intercourse with his mother (for some reason the Indian accented scam callers seem to like that insult the most - long ago one Indian scammer I ticked off in similiar fashion told me he "F'ed my mother" so I told him my mom was dead making him a necrophiliac which I'll be sure to tell him mom about while I'm f'ing her").   Just have fun with these guys, waste their time so maybe they can't make quite as many attempts on other more gullible persons.  Further, tell everyone, especially old people NEVER to pay anyone with cash cards over the phone.   If a regular insured and traceable credit card won't work, then it's not legitimate.
