I did not answer when the number called, and they didn't leave a message. I called the number back and it sounds like it's some sort of student loan consolidation thing, I hung up.

This is with CitiLoan.  Someone actually picked up when I called it back.  They want to know if you want to consolidate your student loan.  I just told them no and hope that they will not call me again.

    Tired of it in NJ
This number is from a call center in Eugene, Oregon.  They are calling on behalf of Citibank's Student Loan Corporation.  Despite the fact that I had loans consolidated with SLC already, and the fact that we told this call center to stop calling us, they continued to do so.  I called up SLC's customer service number and they've 'assured me' that it was a system's error.  My advice, if you keep getting these calls, is to call the SLC customer service number (800-967-2400) and tell them to have the call center stop calling you.  I also filed a Do Not Call complaint.

This number has been calling me at least 2 times a day since Monday.  I called Citibank Customer Service yesterday to try and verify if it even was them calling and they are hopefully looking into it.  The whole thing seems like it might be a scam to me, but if you have tried something that works to get them to stop calling I would love to know.

Call Citibank customer service--1-800-967-2400. You need to push 5 to get a human. Tell them that you are being harassed by their advertising people. The person I got on the line called the 1-800-592-8516 number and asked them to take my number off of their call list--I do business with Citibank though. If you don't, they may not help in which case I would report them. If you are on the National Do Not Call Registry, you can report them here: https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx

I just got a call on my cell phone from this number.  Overall the call was very, very odd.  The caller never identified himself until I asked who he was with and the background noise made me think he was walking down a busy city street.  Reading above that he was just in a call center now makes perfect sense.

He was looking for my wife and I told him I was her spouse and asked what the call was pertaining to.  They guy said "student loans" and nothing else so I asked "what about student loans".  He then mumbled something about Citibank and then acted like I was supposed to confirm that she has student loans with them.  I could tell he really didn't have any information on us and told him that the entire call was weird.  He said fine, he'd call back to talk to my wife later and hung up before I could tell him not to bother.

Even if this is a loan consolidation call, it was one of the most unprofessional calls I've ever received.

It's a Citibank number calling about consolidation.  My student loans are already consolidated with Citibank, so I called the number and they took my numbger off their list.  Apparently the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.

    Frustrated with these calls, too
Over the course of 4-5 days, we've received at least 4-5 messages on our answering machine to call this number.  When I called today, I couldn't get through to a human.  Googling the number turned this page up, so I called the other 800 number recommended (800-967-2400) and was told they'd take our number off the list (we don't even have student loans!).  I'm also filing a complaint.

I got a call on my cellphone despite the fact that I am Deaf and gave Citibank specific directions to contact me via e-mail and regular mail.  I am glad there is a website dedicated to this phone number.  I only got this call for the first time and I hate getting calls like that.  My mother set up a message that instructs people to contact me by e-mail on my T-Mobile Sidekick II...I guess they just don't want to do that.

    calling weekly
I never answer 800 #'s on my cell which I don't think they should be calling a cell anyway.  The caller kept leaving messages that he needed to "confirm some information". I knew this was not true and suspected it was a consolidation call.  Didn't realize it could be a third part company.  Makes me wonder if my ***SSN*** is being shared also.  I finally picked up while I was at a conference and said there was no reason to call me, my acct was current and I'm busy could they call back another time.  He hung up in the middle of my sentence!  I wasn't yelling just firm I wasn't going to sit thru a pitch.  I agree very unprofessional!  These calls and weekly letters are how I missed consolidation way back, I couldn't tell who was who or when the real deadline was.  A week later, they are calling again.

I fill out those "do not share my info" sheets but apparently it doesn't work, something else to file a formal complaint about.

    "record this call"
I forgot to add the first thing he said was that he was "recording this call", I guess to make it sound offical because the required tone every 5 seconds was not playing, very deceptive and unusual for telemarketing

    Give Them No Information
Soon after I had my loans consolidated with Citibank's Student Loan Corporation, I started receiving phone calls from this number.  As mentioned before, the person identified himself as a representative for Citibank offering to consolidate my loans.  The caller was very unprofessional and suspicious, correctly identifying my name and phone number but unable to identify any my dealings with Citibank.  After repeatedly expressing my disinterest due to the fact my loans were already consolidated, he finally said that he would "update my account with that information".  However, a couple of hours later I received another call.  This time, when I called back, the call went straight to a voicemail greeting, like that of a cellular phone company.

Also, when you look the number up on whitepages.com, it is not identified, as opposed to Citibank's 800-967-2400 which is correctly identified as Citibank/Student Loan Corporation.

Unprofessional guy said he was Citibank
Just recieved call from this number. Unprofessional and suspicious sounding. Offered to consolidate my loans. I was like, "My loans are already consolidated. Why don't you know that if you're calling from Citibank?" Also, on my caller ID, "Citibank" did not come up. Then called Citibank and talked to rude idiot named Sara who told me she would take me off the solicitation list. We'll see.

These people keep calling and leaving me the same stupid voicemail. I'm calling the main line right now - I do have one single student loan with Citibank for less than $1000 and I have no interest in consolidating anything.

They said on the main line that they would remove me from the solicitation list but it "could take up to a month" to go through.
