call regarding a claim?

Same thing called stating they work for an attorney's office regarding a claim??

This is someone who claims to be a rep from Attorney Paul Cleary's office in New York. It's regarding a debt that the secretary says you will be sued for if you don't set up a payment plan.

A suposed representative from the office of Paul Cleary

Called and demanded money for a claim. Informed the rep that he should email details but never heard from him again. Could be a scam??

called me , informed me of a debt that i owed ,  i payed this debt in full as my social responsibility i am not a bum who tries to get around paying my bills by hiding until the statue of limitations goes out. that is the reason are economy is doing so bad... these people helped me out greatly cant beleive they were so professional

Made a call after reciving a message that was left on my phone.  The guy that answered was real hesitant to giving me his address of employment.  Eventually after talking to him for a few minutes he burped out this address.  4210 Harris hill road Clarence NY 14221.  After doing some research found that Clarence is actually Baffalo NY. During out conversaion he was short and insisted that I give him my name.

Paul Cleary is associated with the notorious Giove law firm in Buffalo, NY. And, according to Budd Hibbs, they are on the verge of bankruptcy:

Reports from Buffalo and Niagara Falls indicate a shift in payment policy.

Collectors must choose between hitting the bricks and finding work elsewhere
or taking a straight commission.  

Reportedly, anyone in position over six months gets 45% of whatever they collect.  Under that, their supervisor gets 10%, collector 30%, Second or hand-off gets 5%.

All of which makes them especially dangerous.  Now the pressure to perform
comes home to a personal level and the lies, threats and law-breaking may get extreme in an effort to pad the pockets of collectors.  

As always, we suggest before you give a single dime to any of the Giove/MacKinnon organizations, make sure you owe the debt, have verified the debt and have documents so stating in your hands.  If in doubt, contact a legal professional before giving them a dime. Do not, under any circumstances, give them banking or personal information, Western Union or wire transfer money or post-dated checks. You may be throwing your money away.

Several (2) people calling & harrassing me at work.  Being very rude to company receptionist and demanding to speak the owner of my company regarding a claim!!

Looks like Cleary's office folks are trolling the line here.  Nice to know they not only yell at you on the phone but online too.  I wonder how much they get paid to do this.  I don't even owe money and this S**&Head is pissing me off!!!

have you ever heard of a thing called strong arming or deceptive collection pratices?  these people may not actually owe anything but due to the tactics employed by Mr. Cleary and his staff they may pay for something that they do not owe.  If you believe that Mr. Cleary's actions have crossed the line please contact the New York State Bar to file a complaint or the FTC.  You may have a case for complaint if they have violated the Fair Debt Collections act.  Please see link http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

This attorneys office keeps calling my father in regard to a claim that has been filed against him through a c/c company that my father has never dealt with. He keeps threatening that he has 24hrs to contact before action against my father insues. This has been going on for several weeeks now, the 24 hour threat as well. I am contacting this c/c company to take the proper action to see what this 'Paul Cleary' is all about.

Paul Cleary called inquiring about my stepdaughter's mother stating it was important to receive a call back.

I got a very strange call from this number today, it's not like what everyone else is claiming though.  I was called at my work number and someone who knew my fiance's name asked if they could use me for a reference.  I thought I knew who the person was who was calling so i said yes.  Then I thought about it and said to myself what would he need a reference for he own business and my fiance works for him.  When I called my fiance to ask him why his boss needed a reference he told me his boss was right next to him and had no idea what I was talking about and my fiance said that he has given no one my work number.   Really strange when you try to call the number back no one answers, how do they know all this information???

i got a call stating john richards was looking for a reference who the f--k is he? lady  named jen called my job asked all kinds of personal questions re- old employers & she mentioned my parents address this was scary when i asked for a number & supervisor of this E-Z rental she claim to be calling from she hung up. Got to work the next day she had left a msg at my job with this number that does not work.wtf
