Got a letter in the mail today from "Vehicle Services Department" regarding the extended warranty on my car.  Their records indicate the warranty has expired, or is about to expire.  I'm supposed to purchase an extended warranty thru them.  Why should I purchase a warranty thru them, just "in case" a warranty item fails?  And what if it doesn't fail?  I'll just keep that money and have any necessary repairs done myself.  SCAM!!!

Got an update.  Just got a letter today from this company Different phone number 1-800-600-1278.  I also went up on the state of Florida's  website and looked up the Florida License number they gave.  It came up as not listed.

Definitely s scam!  And where did they get my name and address?

I just got the same letter...   the way they crowd the words Florida, Vehicle, Department, Automotive, License, Personal & Confidential etc. makes it, at first glance, seem to be from the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles or the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles or even your dealership...   any way you look at it, this is a phishing scam of the highest order that is obviously working.    The number has changed, 1-844-383-8735 but the scam remains the same...   scary warranty services with a $13,000 'Potential Expenses' invoice they could save you from.     How is this legal?    Why isn't our Florida government shutting scams like these down when we have a very large population susceptible to such schemes?

Sadly, Florida has a transparent voter registry meaning all your info is available for free...   add to that the companies that specialize in winnowing down that data by age/income/zip code/home value/literally any metric you can think of and you can get the names, addresses and all those other metrics for pennies.    This is part of "Big Data" as we the people are treated like livestock, our information offered for sale in bulk, yet we're *NOT* allowed to look into the financial information of our elected representatives thanks to Gov. Rick Scott and the Republican controlled State Legislature as they exempted themselves from the Florida Sunshine Law (Public Records Law, chapter 286 of Florida Statutes) effectively stopping us from investigating whether any of the laws they make, in the mere 60 days a year they work to cover the entire legislative needs of our massive, growing and complicated state, benefit their own personal wallets.    Rick Scott has more than DOUBLED his net worth since becoming governor, making him a hundred-plus millionaire, the same man who was CEO of the company that paid the largest Medicare fraud settlement to date in the late-90s...   the fine was $600 Million...  do you think their thumbs aren't on the scales?

Sorry for the lengthy rant, but ever since Laughton Chiles died in office, Florida has had nothing but the most vilest corrupt state politicians who have hurt us over and over and over again yet people keep voting them in just because they have that (R) next to their name on the ballot.

Florida needs a progressive governor and state legislature in 2018, people who will represent US, We The People, the majority, not the wealthiest 1% and corporations.    We are the "Sunshine State" yet have no incentives for installing solar or a plan to make power companies produce X% renewable energy by Y date, a "Renewable Portfolio Standard", something almost every other state has.    We have a massive opioid epidemic yet pour millions into private prisons (who get paid whether a bed is used or not and are not subject to the same oversight as state run facilities) and treat addicts as criminals, not as humans in need of medical attention.    States that have legalized cannabis have had drastic reductions in opioid related crimes and deaths, not to mention the tens of thousands of jobs, freed up police time and  BILLIONS in tax revenue.

This is stuff everyone can agree on, please vote for the progressive candidate in LOCAL elections in 2018.
