- mcalled once, when we answered, he sounded hysterical, called us by name and hung up.
since then, many calls on our caller id - asdfI called back and got a message that stated it was the Info line for the police association line of Ontario. They were calling to solicit funds.
- Caller: Police Association of Ontario

- AliWe've gotten a few calls. Asking for donations to the Police Association to send underpriviledged kids fishing.??? Seems sketchy.

- HamiltonOfficeGot a phone call from 800-616-2023. I had to say hello twice before a man on the other end said hello. I asked who he was calling for and he hung up on me!
- DaveA guy called and asked if the owner was in. When I said that I was speaking (I'm the owner of the company they called), he said something, which I missed since his voice was pretty low/distance, and then the line hung up after 30 seconds. Caller ID states 'Toll Free Serv'.
- po'd farmerA police association, eh???!!!
And....what do they always tell us about not accepting unsolicited requests for donations, eh???!!!
Too stupid, honestly.
The irony... - Police Association FraudThe caller (hear others in the background) asked for a donation to allow police officers to take poor kids fishing. Kind of interesting when the fishing season is nearly over. They're calling from Cornwall, but offer this service to all the police boards in Ontario. I told them my friend is a cop and will ask him and they quickly hung up...this confirmed this issue is another phone scam.
Not sure how stupid people can be to recognize this as being another scam fraud. I searched the internet and located a similiar charity under investigation that tried to solicit funds for charity, but kept 85% of the donations. Technically a charity, but really a scam.
Don't be fooled and just hang up!!!!- Caller: Police Association of Ontario

- StephCalled tonight after 9pm...didn't answer...
- SamGot a cal at 9:15pm...didn't bother answering...
- S. YoonWOW. I didn't know Bob Izumi did ice fishing. If it's actual freshwater fishing, why are they collecting funds already? Talk about planning ahead! Total lack of specificity. I had a pretty good rapport with the lady who seemed kind and legitimate enough. Kept saying it was a one-time donation of $25-50. Epic scammola or not, I would never give debit/ credit card information over the phone, so I lied & said I did not have enough money right now. Usually legitimate charities simply ask 'cuz they know what you want to spend your hard-earned money on should be entirely up to you & not to try swiping the money out of your goddamn hand... but this agent just wouldn't take NO for an answer and kept saying the economy isn't so bad anymore so "why not?" (yeah right. Economy could be coming up roses as we speak. I'm still broke as f*ck). I was compelled to hang up/ scream obscenities when she told me not to hang up and she'd get her supervisor (i.e. a more convincing crook) on the line to arrange reasonable payment/ a better compromise. I said as politely & firmly as I could without sounding as angry as I was: "As reasonable as this cause seems, I must decline. I have other affairs to attend to. If you'll excuse me, I must go now."

- RobertaReceived call from 800-616-2023 Apr-2-2012 @ 11 AM. No message. Called back same day @ 6:45 PM and number was ID'd as "The Police Association of Ontario." Was prompted to contact "Customer Care Dept. @ 1-800-665-1672. Called and was prompted to press "9" to be added to "Do Not Call List." That's what I did and the end message was that it would take a few days to be removed from their database. Let's see.
