A message popped up on my computer screen to call them immediately for a security risk.  They posed as apple representatives. I hung up part way through the call so I do not know what the whole scam is.
    • Caller: some sub division of apple ( I do not believe they were affiliated with Apple).

I also got the same pop up message about a security risk and it directed me to call the number 18006330373. I did call and someone of Indian accent said my laptop had been hacked. They made me give them remote access to my screen, which I am concerned about. They requested me to pay $266 for them to fix it remotely. I almost did but later told them I will think about them and get back to them. Later when I asked the IT guys at work they mentioned that these guys are scam posing as apple reps. BEWARE!!!

If you've got this message popping up on your screen, then you're probably already infected with malware associated with this scam.  If you have given them remote control over your computer, then it is surely infected.  You'll have to deal with your contaminated computer as well as the phone calls.  Don't let these criminals talk you into ANYTHING!

I was trying watch a movie on mega share and a pop up told me to call this number. The pop up looked so legit like it came from apple so I called the number and was immediately connected with a man with an Indian accent( immediately was my clue because usually for any service you have to wait for ever)
Then he got my email and serial number. He said he wanted to connect to my computer and I thought to myself this is all too fishy... I asked him how I know I'm not caling a hacker and he said he could give me an employee id number. ( what am I supposed to do with  that?) so I told him I'm going to have to ask someone if this is a good idea and then he suddenly got very pushy saying that he can see there is malware infecting my computer already ( how can see this i do not know but it's scared me) so he kept saying " it's up to you! It's up to you but ou have to hurry!" Uh uh I hung up and he tried calling again. Whew close one!!!
Whe  I asked apple about it they said that it was good I didn't give them my visa number or anything so whew!!! I'm going to try not to be sch an idiot next time. Brand new MacBook Air too I just got it yesterday! BEWARE

I got the pop up on my MacBook Air 10 min ago. He told me to go to support.me in my search bar and I accidentallt put it into Google and I immediately saw other people saying it's a scam. I feel stupid because I actually called them TWICE because I thought I had a virus. But do I actually have a virus now?

Run your own scam for viruses or malware.  If there is a problem, take the unit to a reliable LOCAL repair person - not from a random popup or cold call for repairs..

This same thing just happened to me last night!  I was watching a movie on my laptop and BAM!!! This pop up comes up on my computer that I was infected...wanted me to call this toll free number and some guy from India answered.  I immediately hung up the phone and had my husband search for this on his device.  Sure enough this is a SCAM folks!!!!  DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!  I tried everything that others had tried to get this pop up to go away with no avail.  I finally gave up....shut down my laptop and went to bed.  This morning I turned it back on and it was GONE!!!!!
