The number and a charge of $25 appeared on my Macy's bill.  Macy's would only refer to it as a "third party".  When I called the number to ask them to delete the service - as I don't recall buying that hotline service at all - they couldn't find my information.  The agent asked far too many (unnecessary) questions that I refused to answer; his supervisor came on the line and asked the same (unnecessary) questions.  The sup said he could do nothing until I gave him my Macy's account # - which I was unwilling to do.
I called Macy's back; they seem unwilling to be accountable for this service, even though it appeared on their bill.  They will credit me the $25, but can not delete the "service".
I am choosing to take this higher up Macy's chain in order to some action.
    I believe it's a scam.

The charge of $59.99 appeared on my recently paid off credit card statement as TLG*HOTLINE 800-633-3985. I went to my bank because I knew that this was not a purchase I had authorized.  The bank representative phoned the number and explained that I was in their branch disputing this charge.  They agreed to remove it but wanted an opportunity to speak to me about it.  He handed the phone over to me and the person said that I did authorize their charge for services when I cashed the $8.00 check that they had sent me.  I never received an $8.00 check and I certainly never cashed one!  They were very pushing in trying to encourage me to "keep their services".  This is absolutely a scam operation!  What I want to know is how did they get my account information and how can they just arbitrarily add their bogus fees to it?????

In doing a little detetive work I discovered that Trilegiant lost a pretty hefty class action lawsuit...found guilty of enrolling 'members' into their service through deceptive means. (i.e. free trial offers, sending checks disquised as rebates, free magazines, etc.)all products and 'free' services that come with a price if you don't cancel within a given period of time.  Refer to http://www.michigan.gov/ag for more information.  This class action suit was not restricted to just Michigan residents.  Apparently 16 states in total were involved.  If people are still getting stung by this operation then it goes without saying that the penalties imposed were not nearly stiff enough!

Found a charge on my Visa card bill for $59.99 for TLG*HOTLINE 800-633-3985.  Called my bank to dispute the charge, and they switched me to TLG.  One of their agents tried to sell me at least 6 different credit card protection plans.  When I asked how they got my card number, they replied that a check for $8.00 issued by my bank had been cashed and they had information under the endorsement line that said "by cashing this check you agree to sign up for one year".  The charge should be credited on my next statement.  They weren't very happy when I called the operation a scam.

I noticed this charge on an account that was not in use, for a person that is now deceased.  I disputed the charge, using the information I found here, and the bank immediately closed the account and issued me a new one.  Apparently they've had this happen before.

This is a total scam. You should all fight it. You should hold the credit card company accountable and you should hold Trilegiant responsible. Don't get off the phone until you get a credit. I fought the company citing all the lawsuits and scam reports online and they gave me back the $$ all the way back to 2004.

You need to call Macy's back and tell them that you need to delete the service. They will then conference call you with the 3rd party and help you do so. If you don't "delete" the service, you will still be charged. They charged me $99.99! I actually called Macys and forced them to credit me the money and they did so. Don't back off!! This should not happen to your money or anyone else's.

An illigitimate TLG Hotline charge of $75.00 appeared on our September Chase Master Card bill.  After arguing with the Chase people about this charge, we finally just canceled the card.  I suggest immediately canceling any credit card with a TLG Hotline charge on it, because this is a known scam and the credit card companies are fully aware of this.

Charge of $25.00 appeared on deceased person's Macys statement.  I found 17 states with complaints plus some class action suits.

After you get the charge removed & your card replaced (if necessary), PLEASE take time to also:

    1)  Google 'Trilegiant class action' - and sign onto a class action suit
    2)  File complaint with your state's attorney general's office
    3)  File a complaint of ID theft at www.FTC.gov

It's sickening that these jerks are still in business scamming and stealing as they have for years and are STILL allowed to continue.  Do all you can to close them down.  It may take numerous lawsuits to run them out of money. DOn't believe me?  Go to their website www.trilegiant.com and read their numbers!

I just received a bill from Macys on an account I closed 3 years ago
with a $69.99 charge from Hotline 800-633-3985. After arguing with the
Macys Account Rep Supervisor about how can I charged on a CLOSED account, he said I would have to call Trilegiant to stop the charges.

I didn't get a phone call, but I received a credit card statement from my GM Card (aka SBC Card Svcs.).  Neither my husband or myself has used this card since July 2008, and we have a "zero" balance.  All of a sudden we received a statement with a charge of $59.99 for a description of something called TLG*Hotline.

I called GM Customer Service and they told me that one of us must have cashed a check from TLG, and that's the reason we were billed $59.99 for credit card protection and identify theft.  We did not cash any check, and when I tried to dispute the charge, the Customer Service Rep told me that I needed to make a payment on my credit card anyway because I would get a late fee.  She would not give me credit, and then she hung up on me.

I then called the number for TLG*Hotline 1-800-633-3985 and was told that this $59.99 charge will recur every 3 years.  I told them to cancel it, and credit my GM Card. The Customer Service Rep at the TLG*Hotline was very polite, but pushy in trying me to keep the service.  I was then transferred to another automated service number whereas I received a cancellation code.  I hope it works.

I signed up for a program to get a free camera.  The camera didn't come within the 4-6 weeks.  When I saw the charge, I looked this company up online and came up with many sites like this one.  I thought that I was in trouble!  I called them and got the same song and dance listed here... But I kept saying, "No thanks.  Please cancel."  I had already gone through my free 30 day trial, and was not expecting to get credit.  However, I had a credit applied to my account 2 days after my call.  I guess they have smartened up.  I sure hope that everyone else has the same luck that I did.

I also have been charge WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. Called the number USBank gave for TLG Hotline Customer Support: 1-800-204-4011. Spoke with representative "JoAnne", who provided a Cancellation Code. Please let me know if there's been any further advancements with ending these folks. VERY FRUSTRATING!
