Caller said he was from Medicare.  Phone number was only one number different than Medicare's number.  Said my name wrong, so assumed it was a scam.

Caller had heavy accent -- very loud call center background noise so he used mute a lot -- said he was from Medicare but sometimes sounded like Medicaid -- said we were eligible for appliances or braces and did I want one? I asked if our doctor had prescribed one (as my spouse had surgery recently). He said he didn't know and I said I'd have to check. He gave his name , extension and phone #.

Spoke with my husband, asking if he received his new Medicare card, for which he said no.  She said one was issued, and he'd have to turn in his old one to get another new one?

Caller said she was calling from Medicare Shipping department.  Gave me a number to call back 800.633.4228.  I called it back and it was for a supplemental medicare insurance!!!!  She had all the relevant info - name, address, DoB, First 5 digits of SSN!!!!!  Scary!  Wanted me to provide the last 4 digits! didn't comply.  A few minutes her "supervisor" called and wanted to assure me this was not a scam call.  I told him to send me a letter verifying this.  He said a medicare termination letter would be sent to me today!!!
