robo call using a creepy male voice trying to sound official.
"the county in which you live in qualifies for a loan modification payment reduction program. this allows us to reduce your loan balance without having to refinance...call me back as time is limited at 800 672 9002 reference #24305"

Mike Fields leaves a message regarding debt assistance for a mortgage forclosure. He states that he searched your county records and found your debt. He leaves you with a reference number 24365 indicating your telephone number. When contacted they immediately drill you for your credit or mortgage information, and claim that the only way they can help you is if you tell them a specific amount of debt. They claim to be from Ontario, Quebec. They also claim to be a law firm. I believe that these are career criminals who will say anything to obtain any scrap of information in an effort to legitimize a criminal enterprise.

I've just finished talking to law enforcement and they advised me to contact the telephone company and have this number blocked. If they call again using another telephone then it constitutes a criminal act and the police can take formal action.

I just received a message asking me to return a call to 800/672-9002.  The number they called is my place of business and we don't allow calls of this nature so I called the phone number to ask them to remove our name/phone number from their data base.  I too got hung up on (multiple times) , especially when I asked for a physical address.  I have filed a complaint with the Texas General Attorney's office.  I too will call our phone company to have the phone # blocked.  Thanks, Brian for that idea.
