- AnnJ| 1 replyMaureen Helga (?) left a message on October 19 that she was following up that I had overlooked a notice on my electric statement that I could save money on my electric bill in New York State. She would call back but I could call her at 800 672-9573 (the same number as on my caller I.D.). Somehow, it sounded more legitimate than all the other calls I get, so I called back, got a different live person, and told them I wasn't interested and to take my name off their list. They haven't called again so far, but the fact that there's no online record of this phone number makes me think that it's just another scam.
- Caller: "energy choice"
- MrsBReceived same call with same message, on phone line not associated with my electric bill. Said it was about saving on electric bill with Energy Choice program in NY. Checked ConEd's list of PowerYourWay energy suppliers and this number is not on that list. That seems very odd. Not going to return call.
- Caller: Energy Choice program vendor
- Rico replies to AnnJit's a SCUMBAG from Yonkers named DIRTY JOHN DALY
- Don G.| 1 replyGot a recorded message from a sweet sounding "Mrs Thompson". She said I could save money on my "Ni-Mo" energy bill. Ni-Mo was an abbreviation for Niagara-Mohawk which was bought out by National Grid. The Ni-Mo name hasn't been used for years. I haven't been a Ni-Mo or National Grid customer for years now since moving. Clearly a scam and they are working from very old information.
- ST replies to Don G.I got the same call....it was the Ni Mo comment that screamed scam to me...plus, the connection was awful...I could barely head what she was saying.
- SLICKReceived a call from this number but apparently it is a robo call because the recording was sow scratchy I could hardly understand it. Had to play it back several times. She said something about a rebate on my Niagara Mohawk electric bill. this area hasn't had Niagara Mohawk power in over 10 years! They sold the company! That's how up todate this scam is.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JimmyBoyTwo VMs from this number today. Speaker: "Mrs. Bower". Just came here to check. Phrased like an overdue bill issue. "We've been trying to reach you about an important issue concerning the supply charges on your NiMo account..." Call center sounds in the background. National Grid bought NiMo in 2000.
- ZSame as above.
Mrs boner scam artist - MisMikJust got a message from a "Mrs. Bower". Same message as JimmyBoy reported above on 11/15/16. She gave me another # to call her back on: 914-294-5596. Not calling it back as it's an obvious scam.
- Caller: 1-800-672-9573
- Ann11:45 am on 11/4. Blocked by my call-blocker app.
- Kirk CWhoa whoa whoa -- let this girl go re: this "matter" and its "reference number"
- Caller: ?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- EJ| 1 replyCalled and left a voicemail stating they needed to talk to me about delivery charges on my "NiMo bill". Our utility hasn't been NiMo (Niagara Mohawk) since 2002. Instructed me to call them back at 914-294-5596 and to make sure I had a copy of my electric bill with me, plus gave me an official sounding reference number to use - E007118. I knew this was a scam as my name isn't on our electric bill. Ha! They're just cold calling assuming you'll be fooled and call them back so they can pitch their scam to you. Don't. Report the call to the FTC via their website.
- Caller: Pretends to be NiMo
- Call type: Telemarketer
- EJ replies to EJForgot to note that she coughs and then excuses herself in the middle of the message. Does she do that for everyone? I'm assuming they are using the same recorded message for all, but it would be interesting if it was done live.
