four wheels good, two wheels bad
I've never owned a bike.  They called a relative they thought was me.  If you own a Harley on credit, call the official customer care number on Harley Davidson's website and inquire as to your status and/or whether this number is legitimate.  Do not give these people anything.

    That sucker friend
A "friend" used my name as a reference when he bought a used Harley Davidson. Fast forward a few months, he gets back together with his Ex and stop hanging around. I and several of our friends start getting calls from HDFS looking for him. The call comes from 800-747-1744 and asks to have our "friend" call this number with a 7 digit extension provided. Ahh don't ya love it when people put you down as a reference without telling you??

Supposedly HD Financial Services, but the current website for Harley-Davidson Financial Services has the following info on the website (myhdfs.com) CONTACT HDFS
PHONE: 1-888-MY1-HDFS (1-888-691-4337). So I believe it is not a valid number for Harley-Davidson Financial Services. In any case I do not have a bike financed with HDFS, my last bike was financed through a credit union. Suspicious number, the number contrary to the posts here IS NOT HDFS correct phone #.
I believe it is a scammer posing as HDFS using a number that may have at one time been HDFS.

So everybody saying this is a scam, you're wrong. Just because you don't own a Harley doesn't mean this number won't call you. If someone puts you down as a reference on a bike loan and doesn't make their payments, they will call you looking for them.  Trust me.. happens every couple months because an ex-friend decided to use me and some of our mutual friends as references and keeps getting behind. I've told them I don't talk to him anymore, but they still call asking for him.

No, it's legit. Many companies have unpublished numbers that are used for outgoing calls.

Only a  lying scumbag scammer would look up a phone number to say that it is "legit" and then post twice using different screen names.

There are companies that specialize in skip tracing.  Look up LexisNexis.  They not only do that but offer credit type reports to insurance companies and data mining for marketing as well.  They are required by law to give you a free credit report every year and have to fix it per the FCRA if it is wrong.  Lots of misinformation going around from that outfit.

Received a call for another person. This is not the first time. I called them back before and told them I don't know this person and to take my number off but apparently they don't listen.

Yes it may be legit but it is also illegal to be calling family, friends, and such.  And Harley financial needs to start being sued for such practices.

What do you base that on?  What law says that it is illegal?

Got a call from them saying I was behind and wanted a payment or the bike back. Funny thing is I don't even own a Harley, tried to explain that to them and that they had a wrong number, and they were just rude, so I just hung up.

    Bike owners replies to Ivy
Yes they call starting on day two of being late. They literally call me every two hours and like you stated, even on Sunday. I told them that this is harassment and they said collection efforts will continue until it's paid. I don't argue that I'm late bc it's the truth but can they legally keep calling me that much a day even though I asked them with every single phone call to stop?

I didn’t even get a phone call a suspicious letter showed up at my door with no address or anything. My name was addressed and at the time my address was not updated so how did they know where I live? The envelope had a hand written name by the name of ray grant and out on the from “confidential”. My name or address wasn’t listed. I called the real Harley number and they said they knew nothing about it and to disrequard. I called the number on the letter and it was a different person it just sounded suspicious. A Pakistani woman asking for my social and social only. Didn’t even sound like the really Harley operator. I think it’s definitely a scam
