I got a call from this number as Wells Fargo saying my account was flagged for suspicious activity. On my Wells fargo app it also said my account was flagged. I called the number on my app and it was legit, they cancelled my card and sent me a new one

I've had a call like this before. It's a scam to get your information. I called wells fargo and they have nothing to do with it.

So this number is fraud?

Scammers routinely spoof legitimate numbers, so while some posters calls MAY have been OK, other posters had fraudulent calls.  Always call the number on the back of your card to be sure.

SCAM - this is a phishing scam.  they report your card as lost/stolen and try to get you to give them information.  never call a number claiming to be a bank that is not listed on their website.

Dude, that’s how banks work. Did you verify the number to call on your bank’s site? Or at least check your account?

Got a call from this number this morning, Called the number on the back of my card. Wells Fargo couldn't find the phone number in their database nor were there any messages or sign of fraudulent charges. And the woman who left the message sounded almost panicked which made me wonder. Scam.

Totally FAKE call.. called the Wells Fargo number on the back of my WF card and realized this number is FRAUD.. BEWARE!

It is actually the number for the Wells Fargo afraid department.
Your bank will verify that. I literally just got a call from them, called the number on the back of my card to play it safe and it is in fact the direct number for Wells Fargo Fraud department

The afraid department? What are they afraid of? That someone like you would come here and then get called out on your lie?

The number is for Fraud Prevention. They called me today.

Just from my first and last name, they told me the last 4 digits of the card and the charges they were calling to confirm BEFORE asking me for any information. They also encouraged me to call Wells Fargo main line, and ask for Fraud Prevention if I was uncomfortable giving any personal information. I did just that. Called the WF main number, asked for Fraud Prevention, they verified they same charges and card number.

Based on what you wrote, seems likely that someone spoofed the number and attempted to collection your information, so calling the Wells Fargo main line was a good plan.

Just a note: If someone calls you for a compromised card, it's not "Identity Theft" you want when calling the main number, it is definitely "Fraud Prevention". Also, just because there are users supporting the phone number's validity doesn't mean there's "Fraudulent WF people" posting here. Best not to make wild claims "Fraud Buster".

Sophisticated caller pretending to be Chase Fraud dept. Asks for information you should never share.
Pretty scary, called local branch and they said all BS.  He was fishing....

Please remember scammer can fake Wells Fargo number and call you. The best way to call back Wells Fargo in the back of your card and verify with Wells Fargo representative.
