This call came from RCN, a cable company.

This is RCN (1-800-RING-RCN), but I didn't pick up, so I'm not sure why they called.  It has happened once previously too.  They usually don't leave a message.

I am expecting calls from contractors, so I picked it up.  It was a short (30  second) message from RCN advertising some cable package.  I already have RCN for cable, so I guess it was an up sell.

Really annoying - I dont want companies to get the idea that this is an OK way to advertise.

It is RCN and they call non stop - i havent had their svc in 3 mos and do not owe them any money so this is all sales calls.

RCN called, but it was an actual person. He could barely get through the message, and didn't really get far. He was calling about a special, but really didn't feel like selling it, since he was talking so slow with really long pauses.

I don't expect any calls from any 1-800-...

it's RCN, calling to give special offers.  i only want them for what I have, not adding on services and I've requested not to get these "special offers".  They call about once every 6 months, so it's not terribly annoying but still it's unwanted.

Calls usually come in pairs, but while I'm at work or school.  Never a message, and since it's RCN, I will never upgrade.

It feels like I get this call every day, sometimes twice a day. How do I get my number off their list?! I refuse to answer and they keep calling. this is a huge waste of my time

RCN - change your privacy settings to no calls for specials.

the call from 1-800-746-4726 is once a day and very annoying.

This number has been calling for the past several days. I haven't answered. It makes me want to cancel my RCN service.

1-800-746-4726 calls at least twice a day, at all hours. Rings and doesn't leave message. This is getting annoying to say the least and I use RCN internet service.

Ugh, this is annoying. They keep calling, twice today already, once yesterday, once on Tuesday and once on Monday.  I have RCN service, but don't need any special offers and am not waiting for any service.

In the past 3 weeks, they have called nearly every day. One day they actually called three times. They never leave a message. This is beyond annoying.

While I was posting the message above, RCN called AGAIN!!

Thanks for the info, everyone.  I was wondering who this was.  I thought it was illegal for companies to cold call via cell phone?

It's illegal, technically, but when you signed up for RCN and agreed to their terms of service, you gave them permission to call the number you registered with.  Even if you haven't had their service for years, that's how they're getting around the legal technicality and still calling you without breaking any laws.

For what it's worth, RCN is far from the only company that does this kind of thing -- it's pretty standard these days.
