It must be a phone bank. No one answered when I picked up the phone

I wonder if by simply picking up the phone, they use your number as an available universal number for mass calling.

Checked my voicemail and there was phone silence then eventually sounds of a light sounding growling animal noise.

It's Tax Accounting Software CCH (f.k.a. Universal Tax Systems), makers of the TaxWise products.  They are legit and might be calling for updates, changes, add-ons to current users

Presumptious jerks. "How are you today." no consideration as to if it's a convenient time for you to use MY phone line.

Hung up on me after I told him he was assuming a relationship where none existed.
