message from century link (my ISP) about pending upgrade to high speed internetservice

Phil from Century Link, we need to schedule to change out your modem bc we are taking out the copper wire service and changing it to fiber optics. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Called Century Link NO SUCH service was to happen. People don't fall for it, don't give your address or any info CALL your provider FIRST!!!!!

Same thing as T-man except I let the call go to voicemail. Some woman said that CenturyLink was Changing the Technology for the Internet for my company; and that I must call her immediately to set up a date to swap out my modem.  Trouble is, we DON'T USE CENTURYLINK for our Internet connection !

Received multiple voice mails from this number wanting me to call to schedule an appointment to "upgrade" my modem.  They left a garbled name and didn't identify their company.  Seemed suspicious.  Called my ISP (Comcast) and they confirmed that the calls are not legitimate and part of a phishing scam.

Multiple calls from Jared.  Claimed to be from CenturyLink and said that I had to change something related to my DSL modem, but wouldn't say exactly what.  I asked for written communication and he promised his supervisor will send me a registered letter in the next few days.  I called my ISP (between CenturyLink and the Internet) and they had heard nothing about any change from CenturyLink.

This is not a scam. CenturyLink sent a letter 2 weeks ago about upgrading our neighborhood to fiber and notified us that we would need a new modem. They said they would send a new free modem before upgrade. They did exactly that and the modem arrived yesterday. Today this 800-764-9504 # called and left a recorded message reminding us of the upgrade for tomorrow and the potential for service to be interrupted for 30 min during the upgrade.

This is a legitimate number.  Century link called and left message, I called and it was Century Link about taking care of Fiber Optic, even the work number was legitimate.  If you can call back and it is the people calling you it is legitimate, but in all fairness there are so many calls from India that have a US front voice and then you are in Delhi.
