I called the number back and was hooked up with Mr. Warren.  He would not tell me the nature of his business.  He wanted my phone number and I would not give it too him.  Also He told me his company name was Rock Associates in Vero Beach, Florida.  I looked it up and there was no Rock Associates.

I LIVE in Vero Beach,Fl.  I get this call several times per day ( no lie), as with all calls I let my caller ID it, if it a # I recognize, I'll answer it.  If not then I'll let the answereing machine pick it up, when that happens, it will go immeadiately to a dial tone.  Come on, if you are going to call me and it is important LEAVE A MESSAGE!!!  If not don't bother.  If its REALLY that IMPORTANT and you can't get me by phone, send it to me registered mail.  Other wise leave me alone

Why does a collection agency call an unlisted cell phone number.  I don't know these people.  What's the purpose of having my number on DO NOT CALL if it is continually abused.
How do we stop these people?  Would love to know. I'm willing to write letters, complain whatever..any suggestions

Collection agencies are exempt from the Do Not Call list. If you've ever done business with a company and gave out your cell phone, that is how they have it and are able to call you.

You probably gave your phone number to some company to whom you now owe money.

They may or may not be exempt from the "do not call", but they are bound to the FDCPA...this means that you can send them a cease communication letter directing them to only contact you via mail.  Any further phone calls after that are a violation and you can sue...

I received several calls from this number and no one would give me the company name or why they were calling.  I spoke to a Rusty who actually was rude to me and when I told him that I was going to call the Better Business Bureau he told me "I don't care, they can't do anything to us, we're not illegal" ... yet he still would not tell me what company it was or why they were calling.  When I called them I BLOCKED my number ... and they were still able to pull up who I was.

okay i am in middle school and these people are continuous they call at 1 and i am scared that they will call during school

Woman collection agent argued with me exuberantly. They love their job of sadism and nazi style positioning. Five minutes earlier I received knowledge from Health First that my Brevard Emergency Services (hospital bill) was accepted and paid for, through which charity, I do not know.  Then this number 800-853-5859 calls and she is wanting the payment (now!). I explain that it is now paid. She keeps arguing that Health First has nothing to do with my debt to her client BES. I keep firm telling her that it is paid. She keeps arguing. I did not tell her that I have lifetime birth defect autism. I am just like being on LSD since birth, very bad way to live. I will not tell them that because it will make them thirst for my nervous breakdown even more. The bill is paid, but now she will use force of some kind next, until the communique is received in her office, that my case is actually closed.

Left a recorded message for someone I do not know about a debt collection. They are in violation for leaving such a message about someone else on my answer service. I will find the person they were calling, so they can sue them. $1000.00 per violation.
