Just started a couple of days ago. Again this morning. Ring twice then hang up.  :-X

rang once and hung up - unknown number

Rang once, hung up, no message.

ring 1 time and hang up.

My cell phone only made it look like they let it ring once.  I called the number back and pressed 4 to spoke with a representative.  They told me what name they were wanting to reach, I said I didn't know them, they removed my number from their list.

The Company answers and says Thank you for callng ERC and gives you options to pay, or speak to someone. They said they were a debt collector calling for an account in collections. Problem is, it was a debt that had been paid OVER two years ago and when I said I had confirmation on that, the lady got very rude and said told me to have a good day, before hanging up on me. Too funny.

This number keeps calling me, I don’t' have any outstanding debts,,, I called the number back and the Rude non English speaking person refused to tell me what kind of company this was when I asked repeatedly, then she told me to have a nice day and hung up on me.. I'm on the Do Not Call list but they keep calling back. Why do the annoying debt collectors have rights to harass people, ppl who they have an incorrect phone number for????

Same 800 # has been calling this number off and on for a couple of years. its a collection agency. they keep saying they will remove my name from the list. but they don't.

why would you call a number back that you have no idea who it is??? ever hear of scams?? c'mon

Called and hung up.  No message.  Always look up the number before you call it back.  If it sounds fishy, it probably is.  Just block the number if you can.  That's what I always do.

This is the new Debt collector way of calling cell phones and some home #s. They load a list of phone numbers into thier Dialer and blast the calls out , they can set the ring time for 1 or 2 rings. Their main goal is to just leave their caller ID or call back number on your phone so that the person their calling is curious and then calls them back. The agency can do this at a very very low cost and the returns are big for them on people calling back. It is still illegal to use any type of automated dialer to call your cell phone and they can face huge fines. If the call is to your cell phone and you havent given them permission then file a complaint on the CFPB web site, it only takes a minute and it works. Home phones are open season!

Kept getting calls from them. One or two rings then hang up. Finally called the back and pressed 4. They said they would remove my number from their system.

That is because these companies are buying bad debt and then trying to collect on the.  For example a person claims bankruptcy and all debts are discharged, and then these companies are buying this debt from other companies and then trying to collect on these debts or in your case buying debt that has already been paid off!!!!  Something should really be done about the way this system works because the bottom line comes down to being harassed by these people regardless of whether or not you owe the debt

I would advise everyone (with a smart phone) to use a call block app.  I like Mr. Number.  This tells you when an incoming call is suspected spam AND you can see if others have reported it as spam.  I also like to confirm via 800notes.com too but once confirmed you can BLOCK the number from ever calling you again!
