Frequent calls - an automated voice saying in effect GE Credit services investigating fraud on JCP Rewards card. Asks for account info. No option for in person. I beleive this is a fraud. I have checked my JCP account and it is fine. The call is fishing for info. The calls come daily and more than once.

I've been getting 3 - 5 calls per day from this number. they won't leave a full message when call goes unanswered. It appears that someone has tapped into the JCP computers and an order from them using a JCP card triggers these calls.

This is a legitimate call from the Fraud Services department. I called my usual phone number for customer service and spoke with a supervisor after my card was declined. She told me there has been a lot of credit card fraud on their cards from certain stores. I told her it was embarrassing to be declined at my usual office supply store where I am known. She said it was the store, not my account, that had the problem. I'm contacting the store and notifying the manager about this. My prior charges of the day were not declined and were larger than this one.

Watch your card use online if you can. I think their system may have been hacked.

Same thing happened to me when I went to a discount outlet in the city I was visiting. They let me buy gas in the morning when I left. They let me buy gas 300 miles away on my way to the city. They let me check into my hotel. They let me eat dinner that night. They even let me buy some medical supplies at a local drug store. But could I buy $38 worth of clothing at a discount outlet in the same city? Heck no. That was fraud. Both people on the phone I talked with asked me to give them my account number and my Socials Security Number, in public, in a crowded mall, over a cell phone! I refused. After further giving them my entire ancestral history, they allowed me to make the purchase. They even deigned to allow me to eat the rest of the week and even buy gas to come home. Gracious of them.

This is NOT telemarketing!!!  This is a legitimate business call.  I did NOT answer the call and a message was left saying they need to speak to me or my husband saying each of our names regarding fraudulent charges on our PC Penney Rewards MC. I returned the call and did get a recording which asked for the last four digits of our card. This is their way of verifying our identity. After I entered on the telephone key pad I was then asked if I made an $888 charge to Red Universal Marketing in Madrid, Spain this morning. I pushed 3 for NO, so a real person came on named Marsha and she closed our account and is reissuing new cards etc.  So people if you DO in fact have a PC Penney Reward Master Card you should be aware if you get a call from 1-800-862-0829 fraud is occurring or already has on your credit card.

I had trouble while in a JC Penney store today.  I was upstairs and made a purchase.  Went downstairs and when I went to make another purchase, my card was declined.  The poor assistant didn't have a clue.  So there I am calling the number on the back of the JC Penney card and finally get a person and after 10 minutes my second purchase was finally okayed.  WTF kind of customer service is that?  And in their own store!  THen I get home and this call was on my answering machine.  THe time of the call is the same time that my card was rejected.  So this is a legitimate phone number.  I can't say that this was the best customer service experience I ever had.  Who is running JCP?  It was like some Kafka short story.
