- dartA recording (FEMALE) said that this is a debt collection and any information received would be used for that purpose, then they said to call CPRS @ (800)873-5869. When I called a recording (this time MALE) saying the exact thing the women said, except he said "this is an attempt to collect a debt, this call may be recorded for quality purposes. He went on to say that I should get the following information together CONTROL #, ACCT #, ROUTING #, then he started asking for those numbers.

- CKS replies to Ginger TaylorYep, I got the same numerous voicemails for an account I cancelled with GoDaddy way back. I called GoDaddy and was told I didn't owe them anything but the rep, Todd, didn't mention if this was a scam or not. He did say the Certigy does all their billing and that I should call them and it turns out Certigy and CPRS Collection is the same company. They are a collection agency.
As I understand it, collection agencies must notify you in writing and I only got their phone calls. I don't owe any debt to any company so I'm reporting to the BBB and Federal too. - justmeI too keep receiving these calls and they are getting really annoying...i wish for these calls to stop

- School marm replies to randomI called the FCC and reported them. Then when they called again I waited till I got someone on the line. I told them I reported them to the FCC and if they called me again I could press charges against them. They asked me if I was so & so & I said I wasn't and didn't know who they were. They apologized and said they would put me on no call list. I haven't gotten any more calls from them.
- sickandtiredJust got a call from this CPRS like the rest of you. Same message. I called even though we have no debt. I figured it was a scam. They asked for the claim # etc. They were looking for a Mike Miller...Is it me or do they only ask for really common names. I told them I thought that they were a scam and to get a real job. Chances are that if you owe someone money, they will call or send you countless pieces of mail before a collection agency calls. I only called back because a few years ago a guy showed up at our house to repossess our new car. Turned out it was the wrong car. But a month later someone like these CPRS people called about the same car, saying that they were a collection agency. We called the dealer and they fixed the problem. I was afraid that something was happing again with that problem, otherwise, I wouldn't have even returned their call. It's a scam!

- Dan OThe following Message is always left on my answer machine, everyday, for the past 10 Months: "This is Not a Sales Call, this is an Attempt to Collect a Debt, any information obtained..etc...ect..." When I call this number is asks me to go get my checkbook and give out my Checking Account & Routing Number." If you do not provide that data it hangs-up on you! There are Two Major Problems with this: 1st - I have all my Accounts in a Credit Assistance Program, and have sent all the legal documents out to all the Debt Collection Agencies, but NCO Financial feels that they do not need to play by the FCC or Fair Debt Collection Rules & Regulations, so they institute calling everyday and various hours between 08:00 am to 09:00 pm. Now I have contacted NCO Financial both by Legal Correspondence, and Telephone to Cease, but they will not.

- AndreasGot the same call. I am not aware of any un-payed bills and I certainly did not get anything in the mail. Even if the claim was legitimate I would not reveal bank information to a company that I did not choose to do business with. For smart phones there are apps that block the call by picking up and hanging up right away.

- knoxzman| 1 replyCertegy is not a scam. Well they are but they're a legal one. They collect returned checks and check fees for 100's of merchants. If you've ever had a check returned or one that took two tries to clear your account, Certegy will call to collect a $30 processing fee. Why there isn't legislation against this is beyond me because there is no way in hell that it costs a merchant $30 to run a check back through (as long as it clears on the second time) but they get away with it anyway. So you may not think you owe anyone any money but you might want to check your bank statements. If you wrote a grocery store check or anything like that and the check bounced the first time and cleared on the second you're legally obligated to pay the fee.

- VeroGuyI received my second call from 800-873-5869. After reviewing the above messages I called them. Once I got to someone, I asked if they could give me the name of the person they were trying to recover the debt from if I gave them my phone number. I gave my number (I had received the calls at my work #) and they gave me a different name. I said there is no-one here by that name (which was true) and they said they'd no longer call that number.

Called multiple times, each time making me wait for the rep.
I finally waited and was told they are collecting a debt for a bounced check to GoDaddy - he made it seem as though it was an automated e-check. He asked me to "Verify my name and mailing address" and I said, no.
I know I cancelled all my accounts with them a month ago, and that I have one domain name waiting to be renewed.
I told him I would just log into godaddy, check everything out, call them to resolve, and then asked for his number, which he gave. I then said I would call back if I couldn't resolve it with GoDaddy.
Then he asked me to verify my mailing address and name again, I said no again and hung up on him.
100% SCAM. What they are doing is probably buying old user info from godaddy, and then scaring people into paying Certegy for services they cancelled at godaddy, after they cancelled them. It's a scam, and eventually the FTC will catch on and stop them.
First, I HAVE made billing errors with GoDaddy in the past. I closed an account that was still setup as the automatic bill method. They emailed me and called me themselves about the error. None of this crap from Certegy.
I don't see how whatever is going on is legal in the slightest.
