While my son was watching a video on his iPhone, a pop up window came up reporting IOS errors.  He was instructed to call the # shown and told that he needed to spend 80 bucks to fix those errors.  He was also told that due to a third party using it Safari would no longer work.  He gave his apple ID (which we will now change) but not his credit card # (thank God).
He said he was from the Apple Company in California.  My son was confused and I am not sure.  I figure if it's an 800 # - go with your gut and do NOT give out sensitive info.  I guess we will see if he calls back or sends my son an email.

    Hi,

I received the same exact thing. Instead of $80 they said 59.99 anyways I hanged up. Just go to settings, safari, and clear history. After you clear history and cookies it should be back to normal again.

But I was wondering if we really needed to change the email? Apple ID?

    Hi!
The same thing just happened to me
You are right DO NOT give them any info.
I called them and they said 80$ I said let me get home and get the credit card info for you and I hanged up.
I went to the Apple Store
The nice guy there told me to do the following:
Go to settings>> Safari >> scroll down and choose Clear history and website date
    And.. boom! iPhone working fine!
These thieves have to be reported they think they're smart

My girlfriend got one of these on her phone.  She was smart and called me instead (IT guy), and I told her never to call anyone under circumstances like this.  These are obviously scammers.

I called this number and then thought I should be calling my carrier not some anonymous number. Googled the number and arrived here. Thank you everyone who recommend going to Settings and clearing my history. Worked like a charm!!!

Yup.  I called the same number and the "technician" INSISTED he was with Apple, he is NOT.
This is a scam, scam, scam.  I was told to do a number of things including giving my apple id.
This smelled very very strange to me, I told the guy he was a scam and he insisted it was not.
JUST DO GO TO SETTINGS, SAFARI, CLEAR HISTORY and it's all fine.  These websites crash your phone then want money to "fix" it, I can't imagine what else they would have installed on your phone along with their "fix".
Scary stuff very bad people doing very bad things.  BEWARE!

Same thing happened to us while my wife was on her iPad. Thank you to those of you who gave the proper instructions: settings, Safari, clear history; yes, this is a scam!!! We were told it would be $29.99 to correct it but we informed them we would simply take it to the Apple Store and hung up. Sad that people feel the need to do this. 😡

I git this pop up in my safari that would not go away even after restarting my iphone. Do not call this number, its a scam. I called directly apple tech support and all you have to do is go in your settings and click on safari and click clear history and website data. It will work as new after this.
