Requesting information regarding a checking account with no name of the person's checking account.  Please call back at number listed above.

This is a call from a check collection company.  They were looking for someone who share's my last name, but I have no idea who they are.  I told them they have the correct phone number, but nobody by that name lives here.  They said they would take my number out of the system and apologized for calling.

"Brenda" left voice mail looking for a relative, gave case # 2297****. I will return the call, but notify CCA that he never lived under our phone #, so stop calling. He has an APO address overseas but for his protection in hostile territory, the Dept. of Defense advises us not to divulge: I will tell CCA that written correspondence will not be forwarded unless their company name and address appears on the envelope. I will ask how legitimate CCA's claim is in light of the fact that he made complete disclosure in order to obtain his security clearance? If the FBI didn't contact CCA, they could be a fraudulent collection.

We got the same call from 'Sarah' with a reference number. They are a check collection company. It sounded like someone wrote a check and used our name and phone number. The check seemed to have bounced and the address and bank information was incorrect. In our case, we are certain it's a case of identity theft. I'll call them back and see how they want to move forward with this.

Same thing got a call from this number and a messenge saying call this number and about my checking account i call back and got asked to verify my checking account number won't do it call back again no answer

same thing - calls in regards to my checking account. Sounds pretty fraudulent. I called back - no one answered.

I got a call from some guy named Ralph from "CCA".  The number was listed as "private", but he left a return number of 18008803395.  Said something about my checking account and needing to call back with a reference number he gave "before legal action is taken".  I've gotten a call from this company before, but the given number is never picked up.

I just recieved this message as well. I know for a fact that my bank account has not been overdrawn or any checks have bounced. I tried calling twice but the phone was busy then I googled the number which brought me to this website. I'm thinking it is some type of a scam as well. They threatened legal action as well. I have not received anything in the mail regarding this"matter" either and normally you would recieve somthing via mail before calls are made.

Same thing as the others.  "Miss Winters" left a message and reference number about my checking account.  No names as to who she was calling for.  Also had that "You should be scared of me" tone when she left the message.  Of course no one answers when you call the 800-880-3395 number back.  The number no the Caller ID was 713-337-2914 and Check Collection of America's number is listed as 713-532-7389.  These two 713 numbers will be busy at times if you call them, but then when they ring no one will answer.  Because they are too busy making scam calls!!

Their regular phone and fax numbers are listed if anyone wants to make use of those.  Click on the "Contact Us" page and there are 4 emails, one of which is supposedly the President of the Company.  Wouldn't hurt to try to give them a dose of their own medicine.  I also reviewed their company on SmartPages.com as a 1 and stated why.  An alternate phone number for this company was listed there as 713-278-2095.

I received a call on my parent's answering machine using my full name, including middle. Like everyone else, they gave a case number. Funny thing is, I don't have a checking account and haven't for 2 years. Hmmmm... My opinion? Scammers.

Miss Winters just called and left a message on our answering machine for my husband in regard to his checking account. The caller ID showed 713-337-2916. The # she left to call was 800-880-3395 Ref # 27349453.
I did a bit of research and not only are they not accredited with the BBB, but the 5 complaints against them have gone without response.  See for yourself.

I, too received a call from that number.  I was told my check "hadn't cleared" and they needed to talk to me about my "checking account" before taking legal action.  I, too, called the 800 number - no answer and no answering machine.  I think it is a way for them to get permission to electronically withdraw money from our checking accounts.  I DO owe for a medical bill.  I DID send a small check - but there is no way my check "didn't clear."  I had more than sufficient funds for a 25.00 check.  Beware of them.  Also, I was told to ask for a "Mrs. 'T'."  If they can't even give a last name, they surely aren't up to anything good.

Received a voice mail from this company - lady calling said her name was Anita and I needed to call this number back regarding my checking account.  I did not call her back.

i received notice of a check collection from collection check of america with this phone number,  from 1 and 1/2 years ago that was fraudulent and already cleared by TRS recovery 1 year ago The collection check of america letter stated that unless I paid them this amount by the next business day plus $100, I would be charged an extra $1,250 for court costs on a check that had already been determined fraudulent.  The staff was rude and very unprofessional sounding.

Ms. Winters called me and said that she needed to talk to Jennifer Foit which is my wife's previous name. I made an honest mistake because different places have called from time-to-time asking for Mrs. Foit not knowing that she is Mrs. Nicholls now. They said she had 2 bounced checks for $12.78 and $14.78 from a year ago, so I took down all of the information from Mrs. Winters and waited for my wife to get home. This is the good part.... My wife came home and we haven't had an account at the bank that these checks were written from in 2 years and they were using a very old address from my wife. This Mrs. Winters and this bogus law firm are total frauds and this is a scam that I am reporting to my local authorities and the FBI, as well as the BBB. The BBB will most likely not be able to do anything since this isn't a legitimate business.

Got a call from BS Bell with CCA Legal in reference to checking account not in my name and left a file number on my voicemail. Thanks to this website I won't even bother to call back. I don't have a checking account.

Received a call about my "checking account" and was told to call a Ms. Barry from CCA.  Sounded suspicious, I called the number back no one answered and no VM.  Then a Mr. Johnson called me today and left a VM with the same message.  Just looked it up on the internet and found other people had been experiencing the same thing.

Called me to discuss a check, very vague message. I called back to discover it was a bounced check from about 1 1/2 years ago when my identity was stolen. I assume they are some type of debt collection agency. They just asked for a copy of the police report when I explained the situation.

miss winters called and states to callher back regarding our checking account. she left no name has to the call was for.said to call this number 18008803395 also with an account number.and your all right this does sound like a scam.sure would be nice if the bbb would check this out!
