Got a call just now from this number and they left a message.... Said it was a private investigator assigned to my case.  Briefly explained that there was a report of fraudulent use on my credit card.. Wanted me to call back to verify.  Seemed legit... However, I don't own a credit card.  Hopefully people read this before responding.

I did not get a phone call from this number, but I did receive three letters in the mail. All from Comenity bank, all with the same letterhead and the above mentioned phone number (18008661726) as the contact number ACCOUNT PROTECTION. (YUH!)
I am not sure if someone has my information, if they really did apply for credit cards (three letters were for denials of credit!) and now my credit is trashed or if it is a hoax. I do not want to call and give any information. I do not even know what to do next but this really pisses me off. I have the mailing address for this bank/ company located in OHIO, where incidentally one of the store's is located...... Any advice?

Got a letter in the mail saying that a credit card I had from Comenity Bank was being closed for fraudulent activity. When I called the 1-800-888-1726 number the agent said he could not access my account only if I gave him my Soc. Sec. #. I told him where he could go.
    It is a SCAM.

Definitely legitimate—they were calling from Comedity Bank where I have a visa credit card.  I had reported a fraudulent transaction on my card and they were calling reference that transaction.

...Got a call at 1230 on a Saturday afternoon - 'Simone' wanted to contact me about a personal business matter that had been elevated to her office, and that me or my legal representatives needed to call her back at 614 212 7561 ext 1225196.  THAT number in turn checks out as some kind of debt collection for cards I know I've never had.

Commenity issues a lot of branded cards.  If you are sure that you have no cards issued by them, then I would suggest that you send them a cease communications letter, preferably by certified, return receipt mail.

Yep.  Never call them back and always call the number on the back of the card.  That way you know who you are talking to.  Now you have to call the bank report the fraud.

Received 3 letters wanting information supposedly on a credit card that I don't have.  I was past due on payments and they needed to make sure I was the actual person, needing phone, ssn, cell # etc.  Nope not happening.  Additional phone # is 888-282-5157.
